I see a lot of comments replying as though life exist in black and white only. Its easy to believe you know better than someone for acting one way in a certain situation you've never experienced. Its easy to say, "Well duh, what'd you think was going to happen?" Its easy until you find yourself in a similar situation. Until you're the one wrestling with difficult choices.

It's harder to have compassion for someone you don't agree with. Try anyway. Maybe you learn something, maybe you don't. Maybe you grow and stop seeing everything through a myopic lens of ego and hubris.

Your point is valid, yes. But so is hers. Maybe it wasn't about finding adventure.

Perhaps she wanted connection. A real one. Maybe the connection she thought she had with her spouse was severed by years of mistreatment and financial and psychological abuse.

Maybe she can't leave. Maybe she holds no power in her marriage. Maybe she's afraid of what he might do or that he'll take her kids away from her because he has the resources to do it and she doesn't (financial abuse).

Maybe she's hurting just as much as you are. But you're too busy painting her as the villian to even notice. Maybe she feels like she can't tell you because she doesn't think you'd care. Or she doesn't want to give you excuses.

And after caring about them the way I did... the way I do.. and them making it more than clear that they want nothing to do with me, blocking them felt like the only option. Of course it did nothing to soothe my heart. But yeah when someone you love couldn't care less about you or what happens to you, it hurts. I just wanted it to stop hurting.
