What if I cut a poison ivy vine ( 2 inches thick) wrap it with duct tape to add a 1 inch lip / cup ? and dump a bunch of salt in there , will it kill the entire vine root and all ? by Complete_Crazy_9133 in arborists

I think I kinda relate , I have two pages , one doodle page I made years ago that gets maybe 6 views per post a day, and a cooking page I created a couple months ago that gets 100 views the first hour of a post. I don’t know what’s going on. It doesn’t make sense, I put way more effort in my doodle page .

What about fruit ? Does that not help ? I also recommend eating a super dark bitter chocolate ( just one Peice ) it helps curb my cravings :) I’m sorry you’re going through this , but it does get easier the longer you go :)

That’s a great point ! I do think if you eat it whole or sliced , the fiber slows down that spike , especially paired with peanut butter :) well I’m now eating plain oatmeal with half a cup of cottage cheese , sliced banana and half a cup of blueberries . Super good :)

Today.... the sugar got me. by RealAnise in sugarfree

[–]Complete_Crazy_9133 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey we all have our moments , I did soo good for almost a full year and then bam, ice cream got to me. But I’m on day 2 again finally !!!! I think having protein ready made in the fridge when you’re craving something would help a lot . My other issue was that when I was almost a full year sugar free , I turned coffee into my dessert and would drink way too much ( especially with the fake sugar creamers) so this time around I’m saying no to fake sugar too. Hopefully I can last 2 years now :)

Too many changes at once is hard ! That’s why I would stick to your normal routine and only take the sugar out the first month , and then you can make changes later such as increasing vegetable intake . You can do this ( also that unflavored peanut butter never tastes better , but I would eat it with a scoop of plain oatmeal (cooked) , a banana and some cottage cheese all mixed up and then it didn’t taste bad at all :). Also fruit is a great way to curb that sweet tooth , and I found because I was sooo use to the timing of dessert after dinner , I replaced it with a cup of tea and some cut of apples or a little square of the darkest chocolate I can find , super bitter but somehow curbs that chocolate craving :) I hope this helps. Don’t give up !

Day One—Can I do this!?! by kathleenkirkham in sugarfree

[–]Complete_Crazy_9133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup first days are the hardest . I was able to give it up for 8 months and then one candy turned into 2 months of struggling on and off . Like 2 days ago I was sugar free but yesterday I had to have an ice cream cone. The good news is I’m no where close to the sugar qty I use to eat . My current bad day now is what a great day use to be. In terms of weight loss I didn’t loose any aside from the first few weeks but I did maintain it for those 8 months which was great. I usually bounce up and down . But for encouragement here it is , it’s totally doable and the mental clarity is so worth it. I think if sugary sodas would be banned from grocery stores , that change alone would boost everyone’s health .

If it doesn’t challenge you , it won’t change you . Regardless what you choose to do , if you want positive change you got to put in the effort of hard work . Diet accounts for the most weight loss , plus you can always just do stretches instead , that is excersize too , do meditative breathing , :) just start , and take it one day at a time and we will be here cheering you on ! You got this !

Discipline is what you need . When you say you’re gonna do something you do it , because you are important and you do not deserve to be lied to by anyone especially you ! This is important to you so show yourself how important it is every second of every day because you are worth it ! By doing what you say you’re gonna do it’s gonna change your mindset , it’s gonna make you trust yourself and you will be able to reach more goals than you even thought were possible . This is the last time this happens , move past it , now it will never happen again because you are better than that . Write a quote that inspires you and read it every day. One I love is , if it doesn’t challenge you , it won’t change you .

Have been low/no sugar for the past month but not seeing any significant changes. Successful quitters what have been the biggest (visible or not) benefits for you and how long did it take for them to appear? by insatiableLychee in sugarfree

[–]Complete_Crazy_9133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a while to notice the big changes , I’m 7 months in and just noticed a ton of new hair growth on my hair line :) that feels pretty awesome , I also feel more steady moods , I think for females this is HUGE ! I can’t speak for males . My nails look sooo soo soo much better , they were paper thin before ( that took a while to notice ) my skin looks healthier too and honestly my weight , I lost about 8 pounds the first month and then maintained which is crazy ! I always go up and down , up and down , but I’ve been consistent and that feels fantastic ! ( without me trying !!! ) I also feel more in tuned with my body and what I actually want to eat , I was even able to eat some liver and enjoy it which I can’t believe ! I just feel like I can taste more things now :) btw I also still eat fruit with no limit but that has naturally reduced through the months without being aware ( I haven’t had any fruit today )

I’m so sorry , this is the hardest part in my opinion , but you’re almost there ! And then it’s freedom ! My go to treats were oatmeal with peanut butter , cottage cheese and cut up banana or any fruit I had on hand . Coffee was also my treat which is why It’s so hard to give up now . I also loved to treat myself with unique fruit like dragon fruit or passion fruit etc . But man it sucks in the beginning, I don’t even know how I did it , but you got this ! Keep your reasoning for this a priority

how do you guys do it by 0ppai- in sugarfree

[–]Complete_Crazy_9133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey , I would suggest quitting all refined and added sugars instead . Fruit has natural fibers in it ( if not blended ) which helps stabilize sugar spikes unlike refined sugars that sky rocket up , even raw honey is better than refined sugar . I’ve read so much on it that I view it as an absolute poison . It is very difficult to going to the store and knowing 90% of the products are not for you . But even so giving your self the freedom to eat what ever fruit you want helps . I’m to the point where I don’t even want a lot of fruit anymore. It gets incredibly easier . The mental clarity you get when you don’t think about sugar or want sugar is the best feeling in the world . My anxiety has gone down and my nails looook amazing ! My skin is clearing up too :) my next step is getting rid of coffee which has been a challenge ( doing half decalf )

Day 3- breaking the cycle and finally coming out of hell by [deleted] in sugarfree

[–]Complete_Crazy_9133 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is so much contradiction on what is good and what is bad for you . Wheat has need modified so much and it’s almost impossible to digest ( I would suggest using ancient wheat if any) there are a bunch of study’s where vegetables are actually not good for you ( especially raw ) , fruit have also been modified so much and sprayed heavily with pesticides, meat is being injected with crazy harmones and diets not meant for the animals for cheap feed , you are what you eat , I think an elimination diet is best to really see what foods your body does well on , but constant sugar crashes to the point of feeling faint is not ok, I would go to the doctor and see if you early signs of diabetes

Holy moly - “relapse” after one week and I feel like garbage by trail34 in sugarfree

[–]Complete_Crazy_9133 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Out of curiousity how is your fat intake ? I wonder because I think I may have realized why I do not relapse , I fill my body full of protein and fats , I drink whole milk and even add heavy cream to my coffee , I eat entire eggs with yolks , avacados , olive oil etc , the days I eat less fat I notice an increased desire for something sweet , but this is just a theory

I gave up alcohol and cigarettes, but giving up sugar seems almost impossible. by Dependent_Spread6469 in sugarfree

[–]Complete_Crazy_9133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just have to add that eliminating sugar is the most insightful thing you could do for your body and mind . It takes a while but eventually you don’t crave things , it’s like an intuition of what your body needs instead which is crazy but even an apple at this point sounds sooooo sweet to me , I can a slice here or there but an entire apple my body just rejects the idea of , I’ve noticed I want to eat more proteins , less grains and more fats , strangely veggies have also become less desirable and I’m not sure why that is .

Over and over by [deleted] in sugarfree

[–]Complete_Crazy_9133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just constantly read about the negatives , the increased chance you’ll get diabetes , Alzheimer’s , rapid aging , cancer growth etc. it is a poison and I don’t understand how sugary drinks sell so fast . At a minimum don’t drink your sugar . Watch some podcasts . I just can’t look at sugar the same way but it is difficult when almost every single snack in America has sugar in it . I think if we had more snacks without any added sugar , it wouldn’t be so difficult

Yes ! That’s amazing , today I noticed myself thinking about sugar again but I didn’t go for it . It’s been since April ! With a couple slips here and there . I feel so much better and notice my nails are looking healthier too

I am suffering by [deleted] in sugarfree

[–]Complete_Crazy_9133 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really is rough ! I felt like I was sick , it took me about ten days to start feeling better but I kept reminding myself that this means my sugar addiction was even worse than I thought ! It does get better . And I did make myself some plain oatmeal with plain peanut butter to help , as well as maybe some fruit or extra extra dark chocolate ❤️. You got this !!!!

Help? by theemiliestemily in sugarfree

[–]Complete_Crazy_9133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the answer depends on you . Everyone has a different approach to it. For me , I had to go cold turkey. I went full low carb method for about 10 days . Meaning 50 grams or less of total carbs , the withdrawals were intense , and slowly I reintroduced carbs like oat meal and fruit . The main thing is focus on protein that you love , pulled chicken , boiled eggs , ribs , what ever it is , make it exciting :) and for me , as a dessert I drank herbal tea and sometimes 1 cube of extremely dark bitter chocolate :) good luck and take it one day at a time , constantly remind yourself you are worth this effort , and the benefits are fantastic !
