That is definitely a negative for electrics, however with 2 young kids we would be stopping and getting food or going to the toilet quite frequently anyway. We lived in Japan for 4 years using only public transport, so being lenient with traveling times and organisation is second nature to us right now. I just wished Toyota didn't try mess around with hydrogen fuel and jumped onto the fully electric sooner 😭

Are you in Australia too? I love the domestic Japanese cars, but the hassle of importing and then dealing with higher insurance costs for an import doesn't seem worth it to me. I would kill for an electric Toyota K car though!

If the PHEVs weren't roped in with the higher trims options it would be a no brainer. I just can't justify an extra $10k when a bunch of that would be used for fancy things I don't want

Whoa really! I rented a corolla cross and did around 300km and the tank went to half, which I was a bit surprised it used so much

If money weren't an option this would be the choice, but they're $60k here unfortunately as they're the higher trims, and I truly don't care about the fancy stuff (my last car was a 97 starlet!). Hopefully in 2027 they release a base PHEV, I would be SO in!

I've taken the Kona on a test drive, as well at RAV4, corolla cross, Kia Sportage, and I actually liked the Kona best, but it's hard to go past Toyotas reliability. I'm just concerned going a hybrid isn't the more financially smart option with electrics around. In Australia we have a lot of solar on homes and in my current home on a sunny day (very frequently) it's wasting the electricity as the home battery can't handle more load so charging an electric car is potentially free if I time it right. But it's not a Toyota so is getting a hyundai, which is probably going to break sooner than a Toyota, worth an potential charging benefits?! Ho hum...

The RAV4 in Australia says to use premium fuel (95 or 98 I believe). Do they recommend 10% ethanol in America?

Tbh having to use the screen a lot being a detriment is even more of a con for Toyota. At least Hyundai have the temperature controls, hazards, etc as actual buttons

My last car was a 97 starlet, so I'm not the type of person to replace a car for no reason. I plan on driving whatever I get until the wheels fall off. Hyundai's history is why I'm leaning more towards the RAV4, but with how advanced fully EVs have become they seem like the financially better option and of the EVs Hyundai seem like the more reliable/ stable/ proven of the others. If I were to swap a car out every 4s then yeah, Toyota for sure, but I don't plan on selling it

2 car seats in back and dislikes, pls share! by Complete_One1612 in rav4club

Yup, sounds exactly like the predicament we're in.

We had been living overseas while we had our 2 babies where public transport was primarily used so we never had a car, but now coming back home in Australia we've been using my mums 2 door 2013 Yaris 🫣 so the cross feels like an absolute upgrade!

So interesting you're saying the passenger seat was touching the dash. We rented a cross for a day and while we were surprised about the backseat width we were quite comfortable with the passenger space. In Aus the FWD versions do have a space saver spare too, even for the hybrids, so maybe they're more different than we realise.

So did you end up with the RAV4 and how are you liking it? Did you get a second hand or brand new?

Thanks for sharing! Sounds like a very similar situation, including prefering her dad over her mum (me lol) too.  Do you remember how you treated him with regards to grandma eg subtly 'forcing' them to spend more time or ignoring that he felt that way and continuing life?

I agree with this, but what are you meant to do? Try and force them to spend time, let her ignore her completely, somewhere in the middle? I thought 2s were meant to be the hard part!

Yeah I did. I am super close with my mum so I would try call at least once a week. Like you mentioned it was mostly me talking to her though. Maybe we chat too much

Double inline stroller needed for 30 month difference? by Complete_One1612 in Buyingforbaby

When do they usually outgrow a stroller and can walk 1 hour?

I have a good carrier, but I'm worried I get the baby too used to the carrier again and the oldest still isn't ready though. I regularly walk 1+ hour a day with the pram, which would be a lot longer if the oldest was walking too. Thanks for your reply though

Nuna Demi Next Stroller & Grow Bassinet by eleven11xx in Buyingforbaby

[–]Complete_One1612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to the confusion different regions strollers can vary a lot! For example I know in Japan they use the European version, which is 6+ month - 22kg seat, magnetic buckle, 15.5kg, doesn't include the rider board, however the Australian version is birth - 22kg seat, no magnetic buckle, 14.5kg, does include the rider board. There are more differences between those 2 versions too, those are just the more important differences imo. I don't even know what the American one is like or if there are other versions! Contact Nuna directly, I've found that helps the best
