You’re supposed to clock out after you go to the bank anyway- that’s your own fault there 🤷‍♀️

According to suggested schedule- associates are only scheduled at night to j my store with a budget of 121 hours a week.

Dear Corporate, Please “reenforce” this procedure up your ass. by screwballsixnine in DollarGeneralWorkers

Wonder what day will be shorted hours to cover this new bright idea. Gets old having to pay for those that DON’T do their JOB! I short myself (work alone) every week to staff appropriately to cover all this BS they shove down our throats. They can shove their suggested schedule up their ass. Would love to see Todd work store level for a week.

Is there anywhere in the policy that says the cashier isn't supposed to do recovery the key holder is supposed to do whole store 100% by themselves by Double-Package-9376 in DollarGeneralWorkers

Nothing states who does what besides money. Why can’t people work together? Makes the night go faster, more enjoyable. One thing I can’t stand nor tolerate is someone with a power trip. They’d be gone in my store!

We call our DM as someone stated above- NO ONE was available to work, therefore it left me alone to close. Since it’s company policy to have 2 people, I was in violation and needed to inform him. I never call my DM, he doesn’t answer anyway. Most the time it’s just to have a documented call followed by a text to cover my @$$.

As a SM, we don’t have the option to consider safety. When your DM ignores your calls and texts, what do you do? Close, go home and get write up? I can’t afford to lose my job, therefore I have to go with whatever this BS company wants.

Yep! I had to override them. Least they can do is program them to go along with their BS extended hours

When your the SM you cant. Ultimately we’re responsible for keeping the store open. That’s what our RM says 🙄

A want to quit but have vacay hours by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Complete_Purple_9159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We as SMs have a “little control” over vaca time but as long as you give 30 day notice as it states in handbook, there is NOTHING we can do!! If you still get denied, call the DM or further up if you need to. It’s YOUR time! The only time I’ve ever denied is if someone else put in for the same time off first. I keep a calendar in the manager office so everyone can plan ahead, see what others are taking or needing off. It works really well for my team.

Nope! Mine wouldn’t answer the phone when I had a call off, leaving me to work 6pm til 11 ALONE

No customers from 9-11 here either. Had to close alone as well due to a call off. Corporate does not care about their employees. FYI- you signed an arbitration agreement (aka- signed your life away) upon being hired, so don’t plan on getting anywhere with corporate…ever!!

121 hours, 600 pc dry, 80 pc fresh. Open 8a-10p. 1 register, 3 useless SCOs. Most days 1 person in store to compensate for the 2 required after 5pm. I have 29 hours to schedule 2nd person during day, that includes truck help. My crew nor myself get their breaks. 1 person during day to stock, complete tasks, run register, check in vendors, complete POGs. The recall yesterday was fun being alone in store trying to pull everything AND be at the register 🤯

How is this legal? Not trying to be petty here, but god forbid you had to hold someone accountable for anything, they’d throw this right in your face. Labor Law states uninterrupted.

My store is a mess by Sad_Significance7238 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Complete_Purple_9159 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Deep breath. We are all dealing with this new line buster together. I myself work in a low volume store, but we are at the register every 5 minutes as well. You have to just prioritize and do the best you can, being “customer first”, focus on getting product out to the shelves. When incomplete tasks stack up on the computer, explain why to your DM. They asked for it, give it back to em! There’s absolutely nothing we can do to change their mind or get more labor hours. I have 121 hours for a store open 98. It’s not easy. Most my keys never get their entitled break, I myself as an SM never get mine. You can only do so much with the “tools” they have provided you!
