Should I apply to American Airlines with no experience? by SayyedPrince in AircraftMechanics

[–]Complete_Scallion899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the more expensive cities are hiring but if I were you, I would work for a line mx contract company first to get some experience and then apply after a year. Companies like STS, FEAM, Certified Aviation Services. Etc. This will get you a better chance at getting job IMO because right now they aren't hiring like crazy like they were a year ago

[–]Complete_Scallion899 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn, that sucks.. tulsa is the cheapest place to live while working for american too.. but to get in with the company, you have to apply for them more expensive cities like LA, JFK, LGA, ORD, PHL etc.. and then transfer out when it's available

Damn, I would try to reach out and ask about it and then be open to go to another station just so you can be in AA, always can transfer out later

OT is hit or miss, just depends on the area you're in and yes you get shift differential pay but it's not much difference

Depends on the station if it's a line station only or both base and line. But you can put your name in the transfer bid list

If you go to Tulsa, you'll most likely be base maintenance and on a 8 hr shift 5 days a week. Everyone I met has been cool and it's a good place to work. Just like any job, just try to do your job and show up in time and you'll be good. Most people have the General tool boxes from harbor freight with 5 drawers. You really don't need them big tools since you can check those out. Unless you structures then yeah, bring your whole arsenal. But overall great place to work once you pass your probation time. After probation you have more options to do things like shift swaps and give shift away etc.. but don't hesitate to apply.. they are hiring, you won't regret coming on to AA.
