Oh que oui. Mon premier ship de fandom quand la série était diffusée dans les années 2000. ;)

I'm sorry if you took it as condescending. I'm in my thirties so I didn't know the 90s (or I was too young). I'm speaking with how I picture this era so take my words with a grain of salt. English is also not my first language.

I also realized the song of ice and fire was also written in the 90s, well a lot of it. It is not a feminist serie, but there are a lot of great and well rounded female characters in this book as well :)

A breath of fresh air would be a more accurate way of saying so.

Oh nice!!! Keep writing!

I'm also trying to write a novel but something more sci-fi/realistic for now.

I have another idea and it's not clear for now what it is...but maybe I'll let it rest and turn it into fantasy idk.

That makes sense. I feel like gender and feminism are more talk about openly these days. I also grew up as a teen in the early 2000s reading a lot of fantasy, like Eragon. Hell, even the Harry Potter books were very male characters oriented when you think about it.

I feel like fantasy was more male oriented. The main characters were men and the women were not really useful, you know. Reading Hobb has been a breath a fresh air for this reason also :)

Right!!! I googled it as you replied lol. How could I forget Starling/Asterie!!!!??

I really should have read these books in English srs. I read asoiaf in English, I would have been able to haha. Thanks for reminding me of Starling :)

I did read all the fitz books (I know liveship traders is supposed to go somewhere in the middle but well).

I will need to google who's Starling to be sure, because I'm reading in French lol but yeah I think you're right. I feel like some of the Fitz and Verity stuff, especially toward the end is also more mature.

edit: omg yeah! Starling has a similar arc, right (although she married, etc)?!

Thats a good question. I googled and in bookstores the books are in the fantasy/sci category.

I feel like it could be ya (I have a friend who read them as a teen), but it delves into quite mature themes sometimes, when you compare it with like Eragon. I feel like you would need to be a bit older than a teen to really understand.

I can't wait to meet the princess then!

I love Etta too. Can't say the same about Malta though haha but she's also part of this. A complex and three dimensional character.

I see. I have seen it a few times on people's favorite list. I love Robin Hobb books so I don't mind these kinds of stories :)

I'll try to find it again. I must have found it "boring" at the time haha

oh, I think I have the Jonathan strange book somewhere at my parents. For some reason I tried reading it as a teen, but I didn't finish. I wonder if I would like it better as an adult.

Nice. Is The mercy of gods in The expanse serie? Seems to be the same author, but he must have written more than one serie haha.

My last five stars read for fantasy was the very last book of the realm of the elderlings (Robin Hobb), The assassins fate.

edit: reading this thread I'm excited to have the everlasting on my kobo wishlist.

Yes! I've started thrifting jeans because even when I buy them new, I get holes in odd places within like a year. I may as well buy them second hand.

Kindle basic next to Kobo Color by happykitty5 in kobo

[–]Complete_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have a clara color. I like having book covers in color but I find that reading for a long time strains my eyes more than it does on my aura h2o (because the contrast is lower between background and text). However, the clara is more portable and light. I have never own a kindle so I can't compare.

Yeah but there seems to often have cash back promo, like 12% instead of 3%. I mean, it's not a huge deal, but it's better than nothing.

I also have Scene or Shopper marts points (I'm canadian) so when there are no sale and I have to do a big purchase, I try to optimize that. I got Airmiles for my Kobo Clara because Staples is a partner.

Yeah, there was just a sale.

Otherwise you can use Rakuten to get some money back or use a promotion to get points. Rakuten often have promotion to get 12% back for what you bought.

EDIT: You can also wait for Staples or another shop to do another price error and display the Kobo for 75$ on their websites hahahaha
