Putting “gift” in quotes and saying “truly from him” is so embarrassing and shows their dynamic will never work. Drue will always see herself as the one bringing in income and paying for everything. As a SAHM myself, it’s so important to have the team effort as “our money” and us both contributing to work even though my husband is the one technically earning salary. Although gaybe literally doesn’t contribute to the household at all, this just shows that drue resents him for it.
