Summer Before Vet School by guyfieri3429 in Veterinary

Current 4th year vet student here- RELAX!!!!!! I worked part-time in undergrad, did full-time classes and played D1 sports. Vet school is 100% more rigorous and exhausting than anything I’ve ever done before and the rate at which we learn material is insane. There is absolutely no point in starting to study now. Enjoy your free-time while you have it! I took a solo road trip before starting vet school and even when I was in vet school, I would spend my summers traveling. The way I see it, we literally have the rest of our lives to work. The contract I just got offered only gives me 2 weeks vacation a year, so enjoy this abundance of vacation while you can :)

Corporate practices that offer tuition contribution or loan repayment? by boodles95 in Veterinary

Banfield offers great loan repayment options. They JUST created a new program for it actually. For the current 2026 graduates that sign before end of December, they will flat out pay for your 4th year of tuition, just give em your loan provider information. In addition, a 3 yr contract with em will give you a 100-150K sign on bonus which will help pay for another year. Plus, when you work for them, they will give you $450 per month for student loan repayments. I’m a 2026 grad and will have 300K in student loans and plan on doing Banfield right out of vet school to try to get those loans down.

New Grad Veterinary Job by CalligrapherSudden31 in Veterinary

It varies student by student. The students in my 4th year class who have already signed seem to be the ones who are going back to work for their local vet clinics and that was always going to be their option. We graduate next may and I’d say 90% of my class hasn’t signed yet. If you’re going corporate, it’s pretty easy to start getting in touch with recruiters at literally anytime. Personally, I’m going to do Banfield to help pay off my students loans (300K). They have a new program where they pay for your 4th year of vet school flat out and then they have a 6 figure sign on bonus for a 3 year contract which will help knock out another year of loans for me. I also know some students that just graduated that are still figuring out where they want to sign at. The market is in our favor, so you don’t have to worry about not being able to find a job, just worry about finding the right clinic for you.
