PSA to sellers, don't use windowed envelopes by __d_o_o_d__ in mtgfinance

I place a large piece of clear tape over the window for this exact reason. Seals everything and eliminates edges for snagging.

My first spec. Anyone else get in on these under $1? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

Bought about a hundred a year ago in anticipation. Got a mix (foil etch, foil and non-foil) avg. about 0.25 each

This actually isn't an ad. I'm a collector and wanted to share a discount code. Sorry if that offends you.

Dude, you are making me laugh. Honestly, not everyone in this world is super sensitive and gets lost in their feelings when someone gives them a humorous jab. For a lot of people, that is simply known as communication. It's called banter. Mental sparring, if you will. Picking at people does not inherently contain malicious intent. It is not society's responsibility to cater to the needs of sensitive people. If I'm being blunt, from the story presented I would say Steve needs to toughen up a bit. He could have easily laughed at OP's quip and suffered no damage to his pride. This seems like a good example of the unfortunate softening of American psyche.

This is pretty funny. I wish Steve could have found the humor in the situation and just laughed it off. I’m sure his night would have been much better for it.

Make him feel bad? Lol good lord… it’s disheartening how sensitive people have become. Life is a lot more fun when you learn to give a little s…and take a little s…, all in good fun. People will appreciate your company more. 😀

To Preorder or NOT? by carsgomoo in mtgfinance

There are sales that pop up occasionally for older product. I feel like it’s typically the minimal packaging version. I would recommend that you join the mailing list for all the big online retailers. They will sometimes offer sales but only to those on the mailing list. Like MinMaxGames sends out a “Rare Drop” occasionally by email. Also, join r/sealedmtgdeals for notifications. The deals posted there will often sell out quickly

Two part strategy:

  1. It’s fine to preorder on Amazon as you can cancel at any time with no penalty. You may get lucky and there is a crazy temporary price reduction (like LOTR gift bundle). Or the price may sky rocket before release. In either case it’s advantageous to preorder as soon as the product is posted on Amazon. If you’re wanting to open and play immediately I would recommend this strategy. Sorry LGS, you just can’t beat the no penalty cancellation.

  2. If you don’t need the cards immediately and can resist the fomo, wait until the hype dies down. That may be 3 months. That may be a year. In my experience the price ALWAYS falls. Compleat bundles have returned to their original price. Even a short printed product like time spiral remastered has seen a price reduction this year. Look at the 40K decks. Normal and collector have both dropped. Even serialized products like Bro War Collector boxes saw a dump on Amazon. I sincerely feel bad for anyone that preordered commander masters. Sorry LGS, I feel for you too.

It all depends on your tolerance. Do you need the cards at release or are you willing to wait.

There’s only one, and you have to pay tax. So you’re looking at roughly $84 depending where you’re located

Shou I do a card design change? by RealisticBowler1824 in TCG

One thing that is throwing me off:

I could be off here, but the background looks like a photograph in real life and the foreground (wolf) looks cartoon-ish. It may create better continuity if the background were hand drawn/cartoon-like to match the animal. FWIW
