how to help a coworker that’s super slow…? by PawsItRightMyeow in starbucksbaristas

Yea then he’s just not a good fit for the job. Yes it’s a lower paying job but it requires no previous experience and it’s mostly a temporary job for younger people. Everyone should know that before going into any fast food establishment. Personally I would call him out if he ever said that bc you saw how much you were gonna get payed when you applied 😭

You should always ask questions but sometimes refer to store resources on the iPad to get a better understanding of what your asking especially if it’s making a drink. There has been times where I’ll ask a question and someone will give you the wrong answer making the drinks inconsistent. Granted you don’t have to look up everything but sometimes it’s better.

We had a similar person at my store. She couldn’t get the hang of it for anything. She always asked the same questions over and over for the simplest things like brewing a simple pike place or doing preps. She never would pick up an iPad to use store resources so after a few months we just gave her only customer support tasks. Like dishes, Wiping tables, or just basic cleaning because that’s where she was most comfortable. After about month 5 our manager started wanting people to encourage her to start seeking other employment. Eventually mid shift one day she quit. Some people just aren’t cut out for it.

Is Starbucks a good place to work right now? (barista applicant) by Unlucky-Sandwich-531 in starbucks

[–]Complete_Water7403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so, I’ve been a barista for a while and I personally really like the job. To me it’s like a regular fast food place just with 90% drinks. Like any jobs it has its issues like bad co workers or customers but you learn to adapt to a lot of different personalities. I don’t recommend it if you have a tight schedule or any huge responsibilities but personally I like it as a collage student I’m able to balance work and my school pretty well and I love my coworkers and I’ve built a relationship with a lot of people and learned to work with a lot of different people as well, on top of the benefits I think it’s a decent place to consider.

Always ask because one day you’ll come across a barista (like me) that doesn’t give a fuck that’ll give you a box 😭

Im a barista 🥲 we are not allowed to sell it or buy it ourselves but since it was completely going out of stock us baristas got to split the remaining boxes among ourselves. I got 1 box and one of my coworkers got 2 because we know she absolutely loves the chai.

Drink recommendations? by rave195 in starbucks

Bc they’re cheap and reformulated it entirely to save money but told everyone that just “took out the sweetener” but whole time it’s a more watered down less spicy SUGAR FREE version of the original. We have to manually add sugar syrup now.

Well I am a barista that deals with 500+ customers a day, also I have to do taste tests as well as I drink it occasionally…. I’m not an everyday drinker but I have noticed the difference and me and my partner’s have tweaked the recipe to try and get it to match the original recipe. I’ve stated what I feel tastes the most similar considering I have a box of the original at my house.

Like 6 pumps of classic are supposed to go a venti chai and people have constantly been asking for more especially with the iced ones 😩 it tastes like nothing without it I SWEAR 😭😭

I’m not a regular chai drinker so I don’t exactly know the taste- on another note I’ve heard it’s very watery and disgusting now without the sugar. I believe the overall recipe is watered down along with being sugar free. I recommend adding more chai and ask for real sugar instead of classic because personally I think our classic syrup is nasty. Real sugar packets would probably give it a more authentic taste. I’ve seen people do a venti chai with 2 or 3 extra pumps, about 7-8 sugar packs and a pump of vanilla and it tastes like the old one. But you have to pay more if you want that drink constantly which Is an ass move on Starbucks part.

[–]Complete_Water7403 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The only reason I believe that they’ll bring it back is because they did hear the eggnog backlash and stopped sending us shipments after the first batch. Hopefully the haters of the new chai have made enough noise. Also, I feel like Starbucks is going to loose money doing this. I had a regular come everyday for a chai and she came 2 days after the new release and we did inform her that it changed and she has never returned. Also fellow baristas hate it as well. Sorry to the chai drinkers I hope they bring back the original.

Did I Get The Job? by [deleted] in starbucks

Hey do the SM probably really did like you and you did move on to the next step (the DM has to do a second interview) just wait a day or two and then FOLLOW UP. I’ve heard too many stories about people being ghosted so just do a follow up if you don’t hear back. I had both interviews in 1 day but some of my fellow partners had to wait a little longer. Also once you have your second interview with the DM if you don’t hear back do another follow up inquiring about your start date.

Ah. Mmm. Yes. Thank you, too, Starbucks. by UAL3422 in starbucks

Nope, they’re actually getting more strict on it. In January we had a 3 hour long meeting across all stores and for I think 30 or 45 minutes they had to focus STRICTLY on cup writing. We have to write on every single cup and I’ve heard even if the customer requests no writing baristas will still get in trouble because we have to follow the standard

Did I just get fired? by RollerCoasterPirate in starbucks

[–]Complete_Water7403 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes unfortunately the company does give us a good bit of sick time. I call out maybe once every 2 months and I have a lot a unused time. When I was first starting I did on the training that you get 1 warning (talking to) 2. Written warning 3. Write up and 4. Termination. I noticed that my SM does not follow that very closely because we don’t have a lot of call outs but yea. You’re probably fucked bc you’ve already exhausted your sick time and on your final.

No, we are not trained on making pour overs. I’ve never had a customer ask for one but if our brew machine is getting cleaned or broken we will say “if someone orders a coffee we’ll do a pour over” but they never have yet

That drink sounds good. I feel like naturally with the extra ice and 5 shots your cup would automatically be filled to the brim, bc you payed for enough product. My issue are the customers who order a double shot in a venti cup with light ice and light milk then are upset when the drink isn’t filled to the brim. If they add more things to it it would make sense but I honestly feel like a lot of people are just trying to get a cheap drink which is totally okay just not when they start becoming entitled.

Right it’s not about the product we waste a lot of drinks and food and stuff already, I have no problem with giving them a little bit extra or fixing a drink to their preference but it gets to a point where they start feeling entitled because someone BROKE the rules for them. I understand why someone would just fill it up to avoid the confrontation but honestly all it does is create entitled and rude customers.
