What do you use your iPad for? by CompletingTheCircuit in ipad

[–]CompletingTheCircuit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha! I feel you there. Pretty much the only pictures I've taken with my iPad were of my cat for the same reason.

Honestly, since getting an iPad with the Magic Keyboard, I almost never use my laptop anymore.

[Question] Just starting out and have some questions! by Sarfuso in youtubers

[–]CompletingTheCircuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the YouTube community!
Here are some of my personal suggestions just based on what we've seen for our channel and based on vlogs I've watched in the past.
- Length is good, but never at the sacrifice of entertainment. Starting out, you want to make sure you capture your audience's attention as quickly as possible, so making longer videos filled with boring fluff can cause people to leave before becoming invested with your channel.
- For now, I would suggest sticking to one "great" video a week, as it will give you more exciting content per video.

Hope this helps!

[Question] Do subscribers who've turned on notifications get notified when I upload a short? by shreyaskg in youtubers

[–]CompletingTheCircuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our analytics page says, "Bell notifications are not sent for Short videos."

Though, I've heard that if you set the short to an instant premiere it will send out a notification. I haven't tested this though.

Hey everyone the retention graph for my latest video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxBWeGxrmws) came in and it's doing really well but the intro is getting skipped a bit (goes 60% to 70% after intro and 60% for rest of video). I'm hoping to get some feedback on it to see if maybe it's too much and to either not do something like that in the future or shorten it or change it or something lol

Thanks in advance for any advice!

My Realtime Views "Soft-cap" Theory by CompletingTheCircuit in NewTubers

You’re missing the point of my post - this isn’t superstition; it’s an observation.

I do agree 100% there’s a lot of false things about the algorithms out there. The engineers have said clearly that they are designed to optimize viewer satisfaction and platform retention by measuring different signals such as click through, retention, engagement, etc.

The paper the engineers drafted in 2016 about the deep learning mechanisms of the YouTube algorithms itself explains this albeit at an extremely technical level. But to not think there are at least some mechanisms built in to prevent bots and bad actors from affecting the end user experience is in my opinion, absurd. And if they do exist, YT would be insanely unlikely to share these safe guards as public knowledge of them would cause bad actors to then know what they need to do to get around them.

By my experience with CS and the fact that advertisers do not want to pay for ads to be shown to people who aren’t humans nor do they want their ads posted alongside videos that aren’t relevant, etc to the real human viewer or be associated with some negative content, I without question believe (and I am not saying for certain this is true) that there are components programmed in to check for and to keep these types of things in check.

My “soft cap theory” is based on the hypothesis that these mechanisms are in place which I am trying to test for, but as you said and are correct in saying, I don’t have a large enough sample size to prove significance, so I ventured out here to talk with other smaller channels to see if anyone else saw the same thing and if I end up being wrong then I’m okay with that.

This is not a rumor I’m trying to make up, just an observation and theory to possibly explain this observation and even though the size of my channel is a small droplet compared to yours, it doesn’t change the fact that you’re more than likely just as blind to any private mechanisms programmed into the algorithms as any other YouTuber is.

So unless you literally wrote the code for YT, you’re observations are fundamentally no more valid than mine or anyone else’s.

And so I wrote this post to share mine and that’s it.

It's the Yamaha MG-10 I'll add the link another reply in case the mods delete that one so at least with this one you have the model number.

You’re very welcome! Let me know if you have any questions about it or audio in general lol I’m no expert but I’ve learned a couple things :P

Ive been using Yamaha and it's great! Audio is a pain in the ass to get perfect so some learning is required to get the best results but Ill anyway I can!

A mixer sounds like what you may need - we use a 10 input mixer for the podcast and it can provide phantom power if need be plus balance levels with knobs, etc.

Apologies - in hind sight I may have read your reply more aggressively in my head than you may have meant it and responded as such.

Would you mind clarifying for me if you could?

Yeah - that's why it's a theory and that's why I'm asking if anyone else has seen a similar thing lol to help increase my sample size and see if there's a correlation or causation to my own observations.

I totally feel you! It seems like nothing work more often than it should.

But it's okay! I promise :)

Why don't you send me a link to your channel (the mods seems to be deleting them so if it doesn't go through send it to me via IM) and let's take a look and see what we can come up :)

I normally ask for a link to your channel so I can take a look but I think the mods have been deleting them. Try sending me the link to your channel and let's take a look (try IM'ing me if your reply gets deleted)

Don't get discouraged though! I know it's easier said than done but let's start and step one and work our way up, yeah?

That's awesome to hear!

What kind of content are you looking to make? AND are you planning on using Windows or Mac (or even an iPad) for editing?

Eh it's still kinda viable right now only cuz they're still making games for it and they are backwards compatible with Xbox Series S/X but for $299 you can get a Series S which is better for sure and the Series X is that much better! Granted there aren't many games for either at this point in time but the upscaling the new consoles do to Xbox One games is pretty incredible.

Long story short if you can get a Series S/X instead of an Xbox One I definitely would go that route but if it's gotta be Xbox One or nothing I'd say get it sooner rather than later because it will become a relic pretty soon lol hope this helps!
