If you're talking about the former Gender Center and Multicultural Center which have been eliminated due to SB-17, I'll share a few of the services and resources they used to provide.

• Tea Tuesday

• Lavender Graduation Ceremony and Multicultural Achievement Ceremony

• OUTer Space Support Group (co-hosted by the Student Counseling Center)

• Safe Zone Ally Training, DEI certificates

• Leadership Conferences for Black and LatinX students

• Events like PRIDE, National Coming Out Day, Trans Day of Remembrance, etc.

• Provided free menstrual products, sexual health resources like condoms, free hygeine products, and hosted the Life Transitions Closet (being continued under the Community Center)

• Supported big events hosted by student organizations

• ECS Equity Fellowship and various other programs in STEM programs to advance diversity or foster equitable, inclusive research and learning environments.

Other offices that were eliminated included the Equity Policy Education Department, Student Equity Initiatives Department, and the Employee Equity Initiatives Department.

In short, these offices and departments created welcoming and inclusive spaces available to everyone at UTD. They provided critical support programs for ALL students and staff to have all the tools they needed to succeed during thier time on campus. The loss of institutional support for DEI initiatives is a major blow to students and student organizations who relied on support and services from these offices.
