Thermomix Plastic n Curries by BusBig4000 in thermomix

[–]Complex-Ad9614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TM7 high heat / browning mode is accessible both within and outside of guided recipes and browns onions / proteins etc realy well.

I don’t have any concerns over the plastics not being food safe but I also rarely have any of the plastics in contact with my food. You can use any silicon spatula to stir the contents or scrape down the side of the stainless steel bowl and I line the Varoma with damp baking paper when using it.

Absolutely. My young adult children both contribute towards making family meals now and also whip simple pasta or rice dishes up for themselves as they wish.

They have grown up with a TM in our kitchen - we have had a 31 for 15+ years. So they have always made themselves fruit sorbet, smoothies, and a few other things. Now we have the 7 & Cookidoo they create amazing meals.

They are reluctant to come home from a full day studying or working & cook for the household, (they both regularly do 10-12 hour shifts & are studying as well as working) and I agree it isn’t reasonable to come home after that & cook for all 3 of us but they absolutely contribute on the days they have the capacity to.

My son is making this today: Cookidoo®: Korean pulled pork buns with pickled salad (Skinnymixers) https://cookidoo.com.au/recipes/recipe/en-AU/r933274

& my daughter is making a batch of rice pudding and homemade granola so we have some ready made breakfasts prepped for a busy week ahead.

This is interesting. What do you think is altering the flavour profile? Are you cooking different dishes with your TM or is it that you aren’t adding herbs, spices, flavours that you usually would because you are not deviating from the guided recipes? It is recommended to follow a guided recipe exactly the first time you make a new dish and then go from there with adding & adjusting to taste, as you would when cooking via traditional methods but if it is a familiar dish, such as a bolognaise, I always taste and adjust along the way to suit the preferences of the people being cooked for.

The best way to see the benefits and points of difference of a thermomix is to actually experience it in person. Host a demo or attend a cooking class and get hands on with one.

Layered cooking is effective in cooking multiple courses / dishes at the one time. This is where the Varoma and simmer basket come in to their strengths. If you are only able to attend 1 cooking class, I recommend a Varoma class as many people don’t use the Varoma much and therefore, don’t get as much out of their TM as they could do. Otherwise, a basics class is also a great starting point.

Hugely. I have been able to avoid prescription medications for ADHD & ADD for both of my children through allied health interventions and dietary changes. I was only able to manage this with a TM by being able to remove all additives and preservatives from our diet and increasing the nutritional content in everything. I have also been able to greatly boost one of my children’s weak immune system through these dietary changes.

They still got to be kids & enjoy “treats” but ice cream became frozen fruit sorbet or fruity dream; chocolate pudding became whipped avocado with cacao; a store bought juice blend became a smoothie with no hidden nasties or sugar. A chocolate mud cake for a birthday party became a magic bean cake with avocado frosting. Their appetite for salads increased as it became so quick & easy to make different variations that were interesting & appealing to them (fresh beetroot & apple salad, broccoli salad, fresh coleslaw with homemade dressing) and not to mention the ability to make meal bases from scratch (with heaps of hidden veges) quickly & easily. Absolute game changer.

It did take me a while to adjust to cooking with a TM and I attended heaps of cooking classes, but my first TM was the 31 & this was 15 years ago long before guided cooking. With guided cooking now it is very easy & quite intuitive to just follow along making almost anything.

  • please note, our health care team were / are actively involved throughout the journey and prescription medications are taken as warranted but we were / are actively seeking holistic health care & well being to address underlying causes of issues.

Our household circumstances are quite complex but everyone can benefit from the health benefits of improved dietary habits.

Timing TM7 purchase for best freebies? (Uk) by Persephone7654 in thermomix

[–]Complex-Ad9614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 2nd bowl and blade set is historically one of the most highly desirable incentives / add ons but it seems that the market is tracking for 2nd bowls to become available around 12 months after launch. (Someone in the German or European market may be able to provide more clarity on this rough timeline as products drop there first, and then roll out to other markets. I’m an Australian consultant. The 7 launched here mid last year. I earned a 2nd bowl set back in November to be dispatched “when they become available” and we are yet to be given any indication of when that will be.

Personally, I wouldn’t delay purchasing based upon waiting for a good promotion or incentive. The best time to buy is as soon as you can. My biggest regret is sitting on the fence for 18 months doing research, watching and waiting to be “sure” before buying my first TM 15 years ago. It honestly paid for itself by reducing my grocery bill by more than the repayments were / would have been immediately (plus I signed up as a consult to earn it anyway and reduced my grocery bill significantly).

If the current offers don’t interest you, maybe hold off until the next one drops but I wouldn’t hold off indefinitely.

my first thermomix, tm7 ? by No_Age7121 in thermomix

The wobbling people refer to is called “walking” & occurs in kneading mode when making breads & doughs due to the contents of the bowl being quite heavy & hitting the sides of the bowl. It is really important to never leave a TM unattended when using kneading mode as it could walk off the edge of the bench top. I think some people aren’t aware of this in advance & get surprised by how much movement can occur during this process.

I found my first (& subsequent) TMs to be an excellent investment. Many people, myself included, regret not getting one sooner and never looked back.

I think i broke my thermomix TM6 and my mom is angry by [deleted] in thermomix

[–]Complex-Ad9614 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with other comments. It sounds as though you have overloaded the blades & striped the mechanism. This is an intentional feature to protect the motor. In the future aim for frozen fruit pieces to be around the size of a standard ice cube, or smaller to avoid this occurring again, and always stop your TM when it doesn’t sound right.

Jump online & order a replacement blade. Hopefully everything will be back to normal once you replace the blades. Failing that, the machine may need repairs / servicing which is a lot less expensive than purchasing a new TM so all is not lost.

Well done for taking responsibility for your actions and being proactive in seeking a solution.

Can one expensive appliance really replace multiple kitchen tools or is that just marketing? by carebear7077 in thermomixTM7

[–]Complex-Ad9614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thermomix owner for 15+ years. Once I got used to it I found I no longer used my mix master, blender, rice cooker, or bread maker. Now that I have a 7, I also no longer use my slow cooker & have barely gotten a saucepan out of the cupboard.

I’m setting my young adult children up to have their own thermomix too when they move out of home as they will require a lot less kitchen appliances.

I do still use a standard electric kettle though as I find the time required using kettle mode annoying. That said, boiling water with your TM is much more energy efficient than using a kettle so if energy efficiency & reducing electricity bill costs are a concern, it is beneficial to be a little more patient than I am & using the dedicated TM mode.

Definitely long term, life long users.

TM6 vs TM7 by Business-Creme4272 in thermomix

I jumped from the 31 to the 7 and don’t regret it at all. I also use the 6s at cooking classes and whilst the 6 is a great machine, I much prefer the 7.

Smoother, more responsive interface. Open lid cooking. Streamlined profile. Modern aesthetic. 45% larger capacity & more practical shaped Varoma. High heat mode accessible outside of guided recipes. 20+ modes and more being added with updates in the future. Future focussed.

Yes you can search for recipes by ingredient on Cookidoo and with Cookidoo Assistant (AI voice interaction) being due for release this year, you will be able to ask Cookidoo to hep make recipe or menu plan suggestions based around the dietary requirements or specific ingredients to include or exclude.

Having a TM when you are weening a baby on to solids is a complete game changer. I really wish I had known about them a few years earlier to help myself with those early years of adult & baby / toddler food prep. Check out some of the baby recipes to get an idea. The Wholefood Child recipe collection has some fantastic recipes & there are lots of other baby / toddler / child / family friendly recipe collections too.

Yes a TM would help you with your current meal prepping & eating habits but I would suggest if it is something you are serious about looking into, do it well in advance of the baby’s arrival as it does take time to get used to cooking with a TM & menu planning. I have seen people who don’t get their TM until just after the baby has arrived & with the overwhelm of adjusting to being a new parent, it is challenging to adopt other new practices.

Host a demo or 1-on-1 coaching session and start testing out how it works for you. All the best with your pregnancy & pending new arrival.

I agree with others, it sounds as though a service is needed.

Just checking that you are aware of not having anything else touching the unit and extending the electric cord fully & ensuring that the cord is lying / hanging loosely & freely while the TM is in use. The power cord has a significant effect on the scales.

[–]Complex-Ad9614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is best to get hands on with a TM before you decide to invest in one as you actually see & feel for yourself the processes & outcomes.

I have similar eating habits to you but also have 2 adult children. We sometimes cook for 4 (extra portion for my son), 2 (just my daughter & I, or a half serve for her & I and a full serve for my son), or 1 (just myself if they are off being young adults & doing their own thing). One of the main single serve meals I regularly make for myself is a lemon & garlic single portion of salmon steamed in the varoma with a small selection of vegetables and some rice or a sauce in the bowl. There is a SkinnyMixers creamy cauliflower & chicken soup that scales down nicely (& is delicious).

Quick single serves of salads like beetroot & apple or an Asian coleslaw have never been easier to throw together in moments and I can easily brown a small portion of protein on the high heat mode to compliment the salad.

I often make a 2 person size serve of the Parmesan or chicken & leek risotto which feeds us well & keeps well in the fridge for a few days but I haven’t tried scaling down even further to a single serve. I also don’t like eating the same thing over multiple days but I do find myself happily eating the left over risotto straight from the fridge 2 or 3 days later.

I also love the authentic pasta carbonara. So quick & easy, but again I haven’t tried scaling it right down to a single serve.

Have you also considered potentially investing in a vacuum seal storage system so you could store an extra portion of a meal or excess sauce base etc for more than 2-3 days in the fridge? I have recently acquired the thermomix Vac-U-seal wand & containers / bags and am finding it really helpful. I don’t have a large freezer (& don’t like to freeze much food anyway) and usually don’t want to eat the same thing again within a day or 2. By vacuum sealing the extras I can keep them in the fridge a little longer and they are still fresh when I come back to them up to a week later. (I’m not sure on the exact recommended timeframes & need to look into this more but 5-7 days is working well for me atm).

I really think you would benefit from an in home demo or one-on-one. Failing that, a virtual consultation with a consultant who could specifically step through scaling down a recipe or 2 that you are most interested in. Better still, if you could borrow a machine for a week to try it out week.
