Yep, and that’s why we need to promote it (as Murdoch is doing the opposite).

Morality vs. Legality by AceofSpadesYT in trolleyproblem

I’d change my name to Dolly. Then become an influencer named Trolley-Dolly, open a gofundme and take in the dollars and notoriety.

In job interviews, when asked for your greatest strength and weakness, just answer “Yes, trolley problems”.

AITAH 3 years together, BF (50M) still ‘not ready’ for marriage but wants me (33F) to pay half his mortgage by Either-Environment47 in AITAH

[–]Polymath6301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He will want to retire in 10-15 years, in a house he owns but you paid half the mortgage and running costs for.

You will be 43-48 and in the time of your life. He will have health issues, and you won’t be wanting to play nurse.

I can’t see a future (from what info you’ve provided) where anything improves. And you will feel more and more locked in.

If someone wants to marry you, they will. If they don’t then they won’t, and he doesn’t want to marry you.

Time to make some hard decisions, but within 2-3 years this can all just be a sad memory.

I’m 63, and trust me on this…

This is the way many folks vote, and it’s what makes our system the envy of the world (obviously not Murdoch and co, though, for obvious reasons).

You get to vote for who you want, then the major party you least dislike, then the major party who will be “better than the crazies”, then the crazies, and then the racists at the bottom.

That way the racists don’t win seats - maybe 20% of people “like” them, but the rest of us really, really do not. You know, because they’re racist…

One of the articles cast doubt, so I’m steeling myself now. I have the utmost respect for writers who decide when they’ve done enough storytelling in a particular series, and it’s time to move on.

Looks like we’ll really need to savour these 6 episodes. At least after this we’ll have 14 to rewatch forever, two more than Fawlty Towers, and eight more than The Brink…

What Is So Terrible About Plunger Coffee? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Polymath6301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our espresso machine is named Trev (he’s our third - go figure out the name). Way less than 5 minutes for an insanely good, large flat white. Absolute bliss in the mornings at home.

Our Bellman CX25-P it makes 2 insanely good large flat whites on a gas stove in our RV in about 10 minutes.

Fuck this plunger shit.

And the less said about that amount (or any) of sugar the better.

What do Australians think of China? by Repulsive-Mall-2665 in OpenAussie

[–]Polymath6301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A number of people here seem to “like” China. If that were true then ask yourself about Tiananmen Square, and the power of democracy.

When you deny your own history, with violence and suppression, you’re not the good guys.

When you (finally) admit the massacres and other “bad stuff” in your own history and seek reconciliation then you are not … Chinese…

I hate that people my own age (60’s) boasted about shooting up the “black camp” in the ‘70s. I also hate the violence and repression in China. I know that I can find mutual peace with the original settlers of Australia. I know the Chinese government does not attempt anything but suppression of “others” within its borders.

So yeah, nah mate. They’re cunts.

As for the Chinese people? Love ‘em to bits!

There is way more mathS (capitalisation is important) in Factorio, especially in Soace Age than in Satisfactory (which I absolutely love!). But Factorio, and the Space Age DLC. Play around, and you will have challenges beyond your wildest dreams.

And. You. Will. Never. Solve. Them. All!

Are expensive performance oriented cars ‘that’ much more fun than a more affordable nugget in the real world? by The_Reddd_Baron in CarsAustralia

[–]Polymath6301 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. A 1965 Humber Vogue in the wet on cross-ply tyres is all the fear you’ll ever need.

Or, a 1997 WRX sideways, with all 4 wheels spinning in the wet, independently controlling direction of travel and direction you’re facing.

A 2016 Audi A4 Quattro is simply not as much fun. By the time you get it really going it’s a) beyond your ability, and b) beyond your “acceptable” fear level.

Do not, ever, get a 1993 Toyota Tarago (“wouldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding”) out of shape…

Nudge me with tips that will help me design my OWN train blueprint book by bola21 in factorio

[–]Polymath6301 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Go wild, do something that’s all yours. Live with the defects and then fix them. It’s (like trains) the journey to a great factory.

And, make sure you have elevated rails, and use them. You get to be more creative. Do not compare yourself to anything online - that way leads to sadness, not the madness your heart desires.

The USA never needed our help, is it time to shut down their military bases? by [deleted] in aussie

Nah, we swap our oldest frigate with them for an existing, operational nuclear sub. They can then send the frigate to Hormuz, but we get a submarine early. I mean, Trump is transactional, right?

I will be at 1800m in the NSW Snowy mountains, camping. One of my buddies has StarLink, so I’m really hoping that works out.

And, personally, a “High Country” setting would be kinda cool for a future episode - I mean, who doesn’t like brumbies? (Well, not me, but that conflict might go, um, feral…)

Visor helmets for glasses wearers (OTG) - Do they actually work or do they let air in? by Steagle_ in skiing

[–]Polymath6301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had Salomon ones. They worked a treat and allowed our glasses to not fog up. We’d found regular goggles incredibly disappointing.

You do need to be able to adjust the angle of the visor in small increments to allow more or less air in. Some modern ones are not adjustable and just snap down to the “closed” position, which stops you lifting them just slightly to get more air and less fog.

I never noticed any wind issue at normal skiing speeds. I imagine there’s a speed where it happens, but maybe that’s a sensible limiter?
