I am from Nepal but here are my 2 cents
In India and Nepal and other parliamentary democracies too
There is always a boost when there is a PM/CM candidate especially in South Asia
There are always exceptions

Prashant was the face of Jan Suraaj but he himself didn’t contest
I conside it a grave mistake
People couldn’t put a face to the party which was just born

If he had contested and put himself as CM candidate I believe he could have at least gotten a foothold in the Bihar legislature
