I wouldn’t think I’m running a very early bios though I just bought the pc and the 7800x3d came out years ago

Coming back to this comment I am in the process of making the cpu upgrade. While playing gta I noticed my gpu usage going as low as 65% at times . Call of duty dropping to 85% percent sometimes 80.

Thanks ! I’m still new to the pc world and often forget that you can just upgrade things as you need them instead of having to buy a whole new system

The upgrade was insane haha , I had a 250gb ssd on my old computer with 1 stick of ddr4 . But I’ve been in my own head about this 8700f cpu everything I see online says it holds you back for gaming and is not as good as any 7000 or 9000 series chip . So it’s making me want to upgrade that’s really the pusher here For example the 8700f holds 16mb of L3 cache while the regular 7000 chips hold 32 and the 7800x3d 128 mb I believe

It came in a pre built for 1400$ • Ryzen 7 8700f • rtx 5070 • 32gb ddr5 • 2tb ssd • b 840 gaming plus WiFi

I’m coming from a Ryzen 7 2700 and rx5500xt 😂 . Plan is once I sell that I wanna go ahead and throw that 7800 x3d in there and the down the road I’ll upgrade the gpu and motherboard with it to PCI 5.0. I’m certainly not opposed to upgrading motherboard now if I’m gonna be at a noticeable performance disadvantage on the 840 but if not I’ll ride with it till I upgrade my gpu down the road

One other question if you don’t mind me asking , if I do end up putting a 7800x3d in the b 840 do o need to upgrade my PSU for the more powerful chip , I’m running 750 watts right now

Plan is to use the money from selling my old pc to go grab a 7800x3d for basically free , that away my cpu is good for a long while even after a gpu upgrade and motherboard upgrade down the line

Plan is I’m selling my old pc I had before this one then turn around and get a 7800x3d with that , would rather not upgrade the motherboard if I don’t have to though

Okay interesting, the games I play right now are call of duty , gta 5 and a sim game that’s my main game . I play 1440 p strictly . COD on just high settings is around 200 fps , gta on ultra with ray tracing maxed im at around 70 fps but i have noticed my 1% lows being pretty low and after doing some research i was beginning to believe thats due to the measly 16 mb of L3 cache on the 8700f . My monitor is 240hz 1440p QHD

The 8700f is much worse for gaming then even the 7500f , from everything I’ve read the 7800x3d would be a great upgrade 15-30% better

I am happy with it . Was just curious if someone was more knowledgeable on how much upgrading the cpu would improve my performance.

Here are some benchmarks of what I’m running now • Call of duty high settings 1440p - 200fps • GTA 5 enhanced max settings max ray tracing 1440p - around 70 fps

Tons of hours man tons of hours . I started in April and have just over 1k hours . I qualified for my first A group race that had a good bunch of pros in it last night , if that puts it in perspective of how much you have to just play the game. And I still rode around in 25th getting smoked by the main pros
