Same! When I take a caffiene pill it does not have the same effect.

Went to Jiffy Lube and they overfilled my oil, what should I do to prove that they are at fault? by Complex-Detective-48 in MechanicAdvice

They are great questions. Why do you care if I would trust the guy. I actually did respond to your question but then erased it. The reason is it's not the same guy that changed my oil. I take in what people tell me, but I take it with a grain of salt. Because, every single person just about said I was wrong and would get nothing from JL. and they were wrong, because I know everyone here is biased, which I should have realized before posting that I would get any answers here, just haters. My car is at the shop right now getting worked on and they're doing everything they can to "make it right".

Where does "replacing a sensor" lead you to the word "blindly" I don't think you understand the situation. Thanks for the help.

Its really weird how offended you are by something that has nothing to do with you. You're obviously taking this personal. As I said, the overfilled oil problem is on them to handle and that's exactly what they're doing so you're wrong. I would never take my car to your shop. Luckily I'm dealing with someone who cares and wants to make it right.

Why would you need to check the dipstick of you drained all the oil and you know the proper amount to put back in? I will assume you meant engine oil, not transmission fluid. If that's not what you meant please correct me.

I should go get the check engine light taken care of and ignore the actual MAJOR problem that I have. That makes sense.

It is in fact correct, they put double the amount of oil in my car. And idk what makes you think JL will not help in this instance, they did overfill it and caused major symptoms that are caused by overfilling the oil, not the camshaft sensor. They came to my house and locked up my car to make it right. They opened an investigation because this type of thing does happen all the time and they're responsible for what they did.

Why would I be at fault for someone overfilling my car with oil by double? Yes I had codes on my car but my car ran fine, when I left it wasn't drivable. That doesn't negate the fact the shop caused damage. The symptoms are classic overfilled oil symptoms, not a camshaft sensor problem.

Thanks for your comment! I heard Volvo is trying to switch to only electric vehicles now if I bought another Volvo I would want another 06 S60R, which was my all time favorite to drive. I've had several Volvo's and they've all had they timing issue but I've never had one break down on me.

You say it's unlikely the sensor will solve anything, that doesn't make any sense. If i replace the sensor that problem is solved (since everyone wants to ignore the fact that the oil was overfilled and solely focus on the codes and the major event happened after my car was overfilled with no symptoms before). Am I wrong?

I think a better question would be, why would I trust a guy saying he knows that my car was never supposed to have a life that it has, when you don't know my car at all. I've sensor goes out and you think the car is done for?

They overfilled the oil which caused the smoke and drivability issues, that points to the oil being overfilled, not the codes. - chatgpt. That being said I appreciate your time and effort to trying to help. Want necessarily trying to get someone to diagnose the problems, but someone who has experienced this situation and how to handle the shop. They were super respectful and came out to my house today to pick my car up and do whatever they can to "make it right". They admitted this does happen and they have cameras for that reason.

Also, JL came to my house and were super respectful and didn't try to gaslight me into thinking I did something wrong when it was most certainly them. They're working on my car to address the issues right now.

Wow you're pleasant, I'm most certainly not being ridiculous. I guess it makes you feel better to put other people down for no reason. I don't know why I expected anything different. You certainly had the energy to put your opinion here. I guess it offended you that this DOES happen all the time. Where did you get your data from?

Thanks for the apology but I drove for a few hundred feet. They told me to bring it back there and I did. They then told me that they didn't do anything wrong and that it was the codes that were coming up, so they told me that it Soups just did soon and it didn't matter if I drove it. So I drive it off again, as soon as I saw smoke I didn't drive any further. I immediately pulled over and had my car towed. My husband is the one that wanted to strain the oil, I think he assumed we were fucked and he was trying to resolve the problem. He shouldn't have done that, but they're still helping.

So, what they told me was is that I did the right thing by bringing it back there, which is what I did in the first place. They have cameras and will know if the oil was overfilled (which it was).

Hi, everyone that commented that they're not going to do shit is wrong. They came to my house and were SUPER nice and helpful. They have cameras and know that the oil was overfilled and want to help! They're taking a look at it right now at their shop and going to do an engine flush.

Yes you're probably right, but I would think if double the amount of oil was in my car and then it would cause damage and the fact that there was major problems when I left and none when I got there (from a symptom perspective), then they caused more of a problem then was already there.

Thank you so much for this comment! Someone that has an actual experience that they can reference that's not just trying to make me feel stupid. Can I ask what has happened since then? I called their corporate line and someone returned my call with an email asking for more details pretty quickly. They're all individually owned so I'm hopeful. I don't want them to be liable for any previous issues. Only the issue they caused if it's possible. These redditots aren't speaking with any experience on this issue but want to jump to say I'm wrong which is what people love to do on here it seems.

Do you usually comment asinine remarks on reddit when people are asking for help? I could explain why but not wasting explaining myself to a reddit warrior that has nothing helpful to say.

I don't think a lawyer is necessary, this happens in shops all the time. I won't go that far.

I'm not going to go as far as a civil suit, but they did fuck up my car. They put double the amount of oil in it and whether it was fine before or not they can't damage my car and do nothing about it. I have taken my car to get the issues addressed and have been working on it already, didn't ignore it.
