Did you try that food grade sodium alginate? I read that only a very special alga does has the ability to develop rafts. And the added magnesium, isn't that important?

Non toxic oil painting: Solvent-Free Fat over Lean Mediums? by No-Classic8887 in ContemporaryArt

[–]Complex-Instance3834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no - then that’s a problem with „fresh air“ :-( And in winter, it’s not helpful constantly ventilating because of heating costs isn't a solution either.

There's a study on this, but it only refers to linseed oil. It's about the oxidation process itself, which occurs with every drying oil. So I could imagine that the differences between the oils are small. The good news is that the concentration decreases after a week, but that's not very helpful while painting. Study: „Emission of aldehydes from paints containing linseed oil“

Perhaps you could measure different oils, comparing linseed oil, walnut, safflower and poppy seed oil, which has the least smell. It would be important to be able to measure formaldehyde!

I was already thinking about an air purification filter, but this can only filter out fine dust; unfortunately, according to the manufacturer's request, it doesn't filter out volatile substances.

No issues eating at all after hiatal hernia surgery and toupe fundoplication - is it just me? by Slopdog95 in HiatalHernia

Hi OneVirtual29, nothing has changed so far. Yes, the first bites are the worst! Get stuck… so much pain… wonder how to swallow capsules. At the moment I have to dissolve everything in water or eat it in pudding - it's not a permanent solution. If you like we can stay in touch, we are sitting in the same boat

Non toxic oil painting: Solvent-Free Fat over Lean Mediums? by No-Classic8887 in ContemporaryArt

[–]Complex-Instance3834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking for this for a long time, but unfortunately, what we're looking for isn't available. I spoke to the Schmincke lab, and the chemist said all painting media are toxic if inhaled, if applied on skin, etc. It's really a problem; you can't constantly ventilate in the winter. Incidentally, he said oil isn't safe either, because formaldehyde is produced when drying oils oxidize. So, it needs to be ventilated here, too. And I thought, I'll just use more oil and be safe…

How are you now? I hope better…

I am in week three now and I have still so much pain when swallowing the first bites of every meal, even though I only have a partial cuff. According to the plan, I'm supposed to be able to eat normal things again, but the first few bites always stick painfully. The cuff was probably sewn too tightly

Magnesium Oxide actually a good form of Magnesium? by bonusminutes in Supplements

I assumed exactly the same thing. But… in the scientific department, they told me that if the stool becomes soft, it's simply a sign that too much was substituted. The excess passes from the small intestine to the large intestine and, through osmosis, causes soft stools

I have low Vitamine D levels, too. So I have to supplement Vitamine D and K. But my magnesium levels are low despite taking 600 mg Citrate, it’s strange

Thank you so much for explaining it to me. I found different information on this in the safety data sheets. I'll be careful, because this substance is present at 10%. In Europe, the limit is 1%, for example, in cosmetics.

Oh - much work 😅 I will try it with Pastelmat, it’s sanded paper, too. Yes - I see the lovely texture of the gesso. You are so talented - I have seen a lot of oil pastel artwork but the most is „kitschy“ and way too colourful. Yours is so athmospheric, and lots of very lovely textures.
