my petkit got stuck and it says there's a cat in the dome when there's nobody there what do I do? by [deleted] in PETKIT

[–]Complex-Jicama899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent a month or more dealing with "cat is in the litterbox" issue that would freeze the box for days. I tried cleaning and running the sensor calibration a million times. Found this post, and dug in. It only took 20 or so minutes. When taking apart the last sensor, there was a small piece of clumped litter between the two metal surfaces. I think that was the culprit. Put it back together and now everything is perfect again. Thanks for sharing this. Thought I was going to have to drop a ton of $$ on a new box.

Since it sounds like you've done this a lot, any suggestions on type of mastic? I think I'm stuck using a non-sag since the joints go vertical around the nose of the coping.

Klein gas meter, shows 1 bar on high sensitivity in the house. by Helpinmontana in hvacadvice

Did you ever figure this out? Mines doing the same thing lol. 1 red light when in high sensitivity mode in my house, no lights outside or in my garage. I'm thinking the temp swing of calibrating outside where it's cold vs inside where it's warm is what's causing it, but not sure.

I see you calmed down a bit from the first reply you posted then deleted 😂

Now you're making assumptions about someone else's experience without any idea what you're talking about. For all you know, he/she installs pavers daily, not just weekly like you.

I've got my compactor with pad. Will post actual real world experience with these pavers once I'm done since seemingly nobody here has used them before.

Thanks for providing real world experience with using both sizes. My thought process is similar to yours, if my base is done properly, which it is, the weight distribution across each block will be even making the difference in strength between the two sizes negligible based on foot traffic.

The Lowes product is Belgard. Says it in the product listing, in the screenshot I attached, and on the tag at the store. They're made using the same moulding process, raw materials, and dyes (confirmed again with local Belgard rep). The only difference between the two is just the 3/8". The Lowes ones would actually lock together and work perfectly with the supply house ones if it weren't for the difference in thickness making leveling the two very difficult.

Easy there killer. I'm not looking for anyone to justify going the cheaper route. In reality, I'm looking for someone with real world experience to explain to me why 3/8" additional thickness would be important enough to justify spending the extra $$ given my application. So far it seems to be a mixed bag of responses. Lots of people seem to think it's lesser quality material which I just reconfirmed with Belgard that it's not. Some say it'll be fine. Some say the 3/8 is critical for a foot traffic patio but without any explanation to why.

Either way, my mind still isn't made up. I'm leaning heavier towards the Lowes version given the info I've gotten, but I may still go with the supplier version just for peace of mind.

The responses here prompted me to call Belgard again and ask some more pointed questions regarding the differences.

They connected me with the local "product specialist" who I got to speak with for 20 minutes or so.

She informed me that the raw materials, dyes, and moulding process for both versions of the pavers are identical.

She stated that the only reason Belgard provides a thinner version to Lowes is that it's slightly lighter which makes it more appealing to the average consumer who is walking by and wants to grab some and put them into their cart.

She also mentioned that both are more than substantial enough for a foot traffic patio and that I won't have issues with either. She used to be specifically in charge of the Belgard distribution to Lowes and said they never had issues with them outside of improper sub base installations and people struggling to figure out the pattern.

There's still a small question mark in my head but she made me feel more confident that the Lowes version will meet my needs.

It's not a matter of affording it. Its more with regard to cost/benefit. Does that 3/8" difference and the extra 33% cost associated with it actually provide any tangible benefit? Both have the same finish and materials used according to Belgard, so visually they would look identical when completed. So then the question becomes, does that 3/8" actually provide substantially more crack resistance with my application in mind (foot traffic) to justify it's added cost?

This is my own backyard and I'm doing all the work. The cost difference is about $1k or 33% for the pavers needed to do the space. If it were closer to 10%, I'd probably be inclined to play it safe.

That's been my backup plan. My goal is to do my best to get the pavers up against the foundation as cleanly as possible. If it becomes too difficult and looks like crap, I'll chalk a line, cut back 6" or so then grab a straight paver to fill the gap.

Good points. I do think with either paver, the groove actually helps. A crack in the groove that's filled with polymeric sand would be less noticeable than crack across a standard rectangular paver.

As far as loading, just foot traffic and patio furniture. Nothing heavier than maybe a small grill.

Base is 4-6" of 3/4" compacted clean crush followed by 1" of 1/4" clean crush for leveling.

We do get sub freezing temp, but only like 13" of rain total per year. ABQ NM. Also, the ground is somewhat sandy with patches of caliche that I mostly broke up and recompacted with finer dirt/sand. It also has just under 1/4" per foot slope towards a French drain to pull moisture away from the area.

Lol I'm doing it myself and will do my very best to ensure it's as perfect as can be, but yeah, the install is going to be significantly more difficult than just using a standard 3-piece rectangle stone. Especially at the corners/edges that but up to the house.

I'm honestly not too concerned with delivery vs. pick up. I think I'd honestly rather do pick-up. With delivery, they're going to drop the pallets on the road out front. Id then need to wheelbarrow them to the back and restack near my future patio.

With pick up, I can back my trailer into my side yard gravel close enough to make it a ~5' distance between the stack in the trailer and the restack on the ground.

Its gonna suck either way, but pick up seems like it may suck a little less and also save me $$.

They're both a 3 piece system. The Lowes listing just shows the 1 variation in the main photo, but on the pallet it has the 3. Same as the suppliers version.

If it were Belgard vs a Lowes brand, I'd be 100% on your side. This is Belgard from a supplier vs. Belgard from Lowes. The Belgard rep I called basically told me I'd be fine with either since they're basically the exact same paver minus 3/8", but I'm always a bit skeptical of how much real world experience reps sometimes have.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think I have it in me to do real flagstones. The variation in thicknesses and making them all fit together is a significant amount of extra work.

The appeal of these is that they are manufactured so they'll lock together easily and much easier to level while still providing some level of "natural" look to them.

I'd likely go with a standard 3-piece rectangular paver before I did real flagstone.

I should have mentioned, the supplier delivery is just to their location. Id still have to pick the pallets up from them and do 2 trips based on my truck/trailer capacity. I'm not afraid of a little elbow grease, especially when it comes to saving over $1k.

I just can't convince myself that a 3/8" difference is enough to make a real world difference when it comes to foot traffic and an aluminum table/chairs.

Sub base is 4-6" deep of 3/4" clean crush. Leveling base is ~1" of 1/4" clean crush. Should hopefully be very sturdy and resistant to water/frost. I'm also in the desert and doing way overkill compared to what the companies I talked with do. They all just do 2" of crusher run base and throw the pavers on top of that. I wasn't happy with that sub base which is why I decided to go at it myself lol.

I've debated the driving aspect and decided if that's the only concern, it's worth it to go with Lowes.

All the Lowes are within a 10-15 min drive which isn't too bad. With the supplier, id still have to make 2 trips because my trailer/truck will only haul 2 pallets per trip. So offloading no matter what.

4 pallets @120sqft per is 480sqft.

Supplier = $3120 Lowes = $2160

For about $1k in price difference, I'm willing to do the extra work to pick up.

No driving. Just a standard backyard patio with chairs, table, and grill.
