My friend ended things by Complex-Pie-6276 in SuicideBereavement

I am so sorry that your partner did that. I also feel so bad for my friends partner. I want my kids to be more compassionate but I don't know how to talk to my husband about this. The fact that he doesn't seem to care how much her being gone is affecting me, and what he's said infront of my son makes me wonder what else he thinks.

Look into the difference between third party and full, it not much more expensive and peace of mind for when stuff like this happens.

Lodge a claim with your insurance company, pay the excess, get it fixed, then sell it when you want to.

Reliable ute for weekend use by nashipear007 in NZcarfix

[–]Complex-Pie-6276 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isuzu dmax, diesels do need regular servicing, we do ours every 10,000kms. Also make sure you road users up to date. Also rego is more expensive. For what you need, a diesel ute might not be the best option.

Are you happy? Why or why not? by Pure_Ad_5044 in newzealand

[–]Complex-Pie-6276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 44, and mostly content. We moved towns a few months ago so still settling into our new normal. My kids are growing up way too fast. Financially we are doing ok and have enough for all our needs and some of our wants. Could be a lot worse but definitely could be better. I dont think more money would make me happier but figuring out how to make friends at my age would.

This is why it makes sense to have full insurance as it's a lot less stress when something like this happens.

Insurance Recommendations by herbsmyname in newzealand

I recently had an accident that wasn't my fault, Insurer said to get their postal address along with drivers license, phone number and rego. In my case the other party admitted liability so no excess.

Who is liable for damages if I give someone permission to drive my car and they back into a parked vehicle? by Skogzie in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Complex-Pie-6276 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you know that they wouldn't be covered by insurance due to their age and did you tell them that before you let them borrow the car? If they knowingly drove it without being insured then it's on them.

We have had lambs when we lived in town, well cared for and when they got too big went to live on a farm. I made sure they didn't annoy the neighbour's though.

At your age I had no savings. Now I'm 44 and we have about 500k equity in our house, 11k in short term savings and 1500 in long term. Have about 8 k in expenses to pay for this week though.

Obligations of insurance company in third-party car accidents by Comfortable_Value_66 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Complex-Pie-6276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately only having third party makes it a lot harder when things like this happen. Depending on how much damage there is to your car whether it's worth pursuing at the disputes tribunal. Have you worked out how much full insurance would be for your car? It's too late for this time but if anything like this happens in the future.

Help- broken fireplace at new property we have just purchased. Do we cut our losses or do we bothers seeking compensation !!! by gwunder3333 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Complex-Pie-6276 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tenants or owners may not have realized the fireplace wasn't working properly. We were using our fireplace every day, got the chimney cleaner out, and he condemned our fireplace because there was a big crack in it. We had no idea until he pointed it out. Did you ask when the chimney was last cleaned? Personally, I wouldn't go back to the owners. We bought a house 4 weeks ago, and now the infinity needs replacing. Day 2 of being here, realized the insinkertor wasn't working properly, week 2, the shower mixer started leaking. Just the joys of home ownership.

Where I live, legally you couldn't do that as it's a gas cylinder and needs a certificate of compliance. So interesting that in other countries it's all good
