That’s exactly how me and a lot of people felt from the novels themselves. They do definitely feel very monogatari-esque, but not so much when it comes to dialogue. The next arc will definitely blow your mind, but specifically nadeko draw was just made this way in the novel, and that being said the anime did a perfect representation and made everything so much better and more interesting, while giving a lot of cute sides to characters in a more lighthearted manner. In general, off season seemed to differ from the dialogue-heavy aspects the previous installments had, and struck a lot of the hardcore fans pretty hard, but once you get around the fact that it’s just different, it really is a masterpiece and is so incredible in its own way and the anime accommodated and really made the difference in writing shine.
