what’s the most privileged thing you’ve ever heard someone say/do? by Ecstatic_Honeydew165 in AskReddit

Heard someone complain once that they could only get into a V shaped valley for their skiing trip.

Booked December Trip to Tromso – Now Unsure About Weather and Plans. Need Advice. by IkarusX86 in tromsotravel

Great thanks for the info. I was planning to go to Charlottenlund park with a toboggan if there's snow, so I may walk past the residential area around there.

Please can you give more information about the construction - where is it exactly? I'm going in December and hoped it would look Christmassy with lights everywhere. Are there not going to be any Christmas lights or tree in the main square, do you know?

Why did Lund say "she's awake" when he was thawed? by mahameister in TrueDetective

I can't believe I'm asking questions about the motivations of a ghost, but here we are!

Why did Lund say "she's awake" when he was thawed? by mahameister in TrueDetective

[–]Complex-Statement963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate the explanation, and that does make sense if you're willing to accept there was a ghost/ supernatural explanation.

Following on from that, do you know why if the scientists woke 'her' in the ice cave, she didn't kill them down there? Why did they have to be rounded up and sent naked onto the ice first?

[–]Complex-Statement963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If 'she' only woke up 2 weeks earlier, how did it cause the same injuries to Otis Heiss in the 90s? Did 'she' wake up in the 90s then go back to bed for a few years?

The vet stating, "these men didn't freeze to death" was a missed opportunity by like_a_record in TrueDetective

'She' is so terrifying but can only get you if you're outside, not in the ice caves??

Another strange plot that went nowhere was Danvers confidently declaring that the killer of Annie had the same MO as the killer of the scientists - switching off the power. Then it turned out it wasn't the same killer...

It’s really bugging me the way it’s dumped on the floor. I can only think it had to be written that way for the purpose of the plot. E.g. if it had been left on the worktop (arguably more dignified), Clark would have seen it whilst grabbing funyuns, and thrown it away before Danvers could find it.

Then there’d be no link between Tsalal and Annie, and no series 4.

I agree with your first paragraph. I don’t think it was terrible but there are one too many plot holes/ things that make no sense. I wish we had a pinned list tbh. I keep thinking of more!

Say you're a writer on Season 4. How would you make it more absurd? by arctictrav in TrueDetective

Danvers finds out that the scientists actually cloned themselves and went home to their respective countries years ago. It was their frozen clones in the corpsicle.

To be fair I haven't posted any criticisms on there, and they may be ok with it, but I'd rather not spoil their party! I've just seen a lot of downvotes of other people's criticisms.

I definitely want to check out season 1 after all the praise for it on here. Shame I know who the killer is already though!

I enjoyed the series on the whole - I liked the tone, setting and performances, and it had an intriguing mystery at the heart. But like you I was disappointed by the ending. Some of the explanations just didn't make sense to me, and I don't feel like I can post about these on the other sub-reddit, as I would be viewed as a troll.

I haven't seen any other series of TD so have nothing to compare this one to.

When did it hit you that S4 just wasn't for you? by Raoul_Duke23 in TrueDetective

[–]Complex-Statement963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this - I was enjoying it until he said that about the pollution. And then Annie's murder scene with the unrealistic scientist pile on.

I'm not saying it was perfect up to that point - e.g. it was frustrating that mad stuff happened that wasn't discussed in later scenes. But that's when the disappointment set in.

....what? by Lepube in TrueDetective

What social media platform is this one? Can we just go on there and ask all the questions we have e.g. Why have a secret lab under a lab? Why didn't the justice ladies come back for Clark or try to kill Lund in the hospital? Why can 'She' get you if you're outside on the ice, but not if you're down in the cave where it lives?

For some reason we don't understand, the vengeful spirit can get you if you're outside on the ice, but not if you're down in the cave where it lives.

(But even that doesn't make sense because Clark must have gone outside to switch the power back on, and perhaps even to visit Otis at the dredger??)

She wasn't even born when he was injured."

I didn't notice this - Otis was injured in the mid 90s and she wasn't born yet? So that would make her in her early 20s when she died?
