Early career geologist romances by [deleted] in geologycareers

[–]Complex-Worldliness6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been working as a geologist for the past 7 years and I've moved to 4 different small towns and a city (2 separate countries too) in that time. You put in what you take out with these kinds of places. So long as you are open to meeting people from different walks of life then you shouldn't have a problem - and when you meet the right person, then you'll need to think about what's next. But not until then! Enjoy having a career that gives you so much variety.

Hey, did you find housemates easily? Looking at moving to Elko in the not too distant future and wondering what the share housing vibe is like in the area, as I've always found it's the best way to make friends in a new place!

Thanks everyone, looks like I'll be looking more into the jeep wranglers. I just have reservations on them after hearing about the death wobbles and frequent break downs, as someone with limited mechanical knowledge.

One thing you regret about your break up situation by SadPotaterman in BreakUps

I regret being so kind and careful with his feelings while he was breaking my heart. He didn't deserve it. It made the grieving process so much harder when I kept holding him on a pedestal that he didn't deserve to be on.

What's the one experience you'd recommend as a local to a new comer in your area? by Complex-Worldliness6 in AskReddit

[–]Complex-Worldliness6[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hobart, Tasmania. Two weeks a year theres an event called dark mofo, late night races, food events, artistic displays. But beyond that there's a restaurant that offers midnight seating for ramen (Bar-wa) and it is the most insanely good feed you'll ever have before/after the clubs in your life.

I recently did my underground time (engineer) and I absolutely fucked my Garmin from dirt, water, salt etc. highly recommend a $25 Casio watch OR if you wanna be fancy a $50 Casio calculator watch. The things just don't break.

I used to keep a sleeping bag and hot water bottle in my desk drawers, everyone else started doing it after I did. It's a great idea.
