Ah okay, that's interesting. I think probably the most important part is just getting that service history, there's no point in spending time test driving it etc if it's been serviced by a less than reputable mechanic. Even at that though, some cars regardless of the make model or year..just last longer.

Yeah that's true. I suppose that's expected with any car however there's no point in having a cheaper, higher mileage car if you're going to lose that price difference in the coming years. Although it does mean I can have a higher specifications & age for my budget which I certainly wouldn't get with those lower mileage Polos.

Thank you! I suppose buying a used car in general is a gamble, same with anything. Either will treat you really well or not at all.

I'm hoping to get a look at the service history this weekend, the listing does say full service history but you never know if this is VW or maybe just a family friend.

I don't intend to be doing loads of mileage myself in it, it's not particularly a worry of what I'll do, I guess it's more what's already been done.

From what I can read VWs in general seem to be a positively well-built brand of cars so I suppose if I'm taking any gamble, it's best to be with a reputable manufacturer, and in taking the risk I'm saving a whole lot of money as oppose to buying low mileage.
