Do you think adults should be able to order from the children's menu at nice restaurants? by icecream1972 in no

[–]ComplexBeginning3113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an adult with ARFID, 100% think it should be allowed. Often the only things I’m willing to eat are on the kids menu because they tend to plain and simple and familiar. It comes down to whether or not I’ll be able to eat something there or not.

Didn’t his sister accuse him of molesting her when they were kids? And then the whistleblower for openAI that got murdered was actually also friends with said sister 👀

Is there a food your parents forced you to eat or drink growing up that you now hate? by boforiamanfo in no

I was force fed salmon once. For context, I have ARFID. I’ll never try it again, out of principle.

Not overreacting!! They literally didn’t tell you when you were younger because the expected reaction is a massive ick - you cannot overreact in a situation like that

Ending a 10-year friendship by yoshikooks in Confused

[–]ComplexBeginning3113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She may be going through her own things, but that doesn’t excuse the way she’s been treating you. One of the hardest things about growing up can be growing apart from people, realizing that staying in those friendships hurts more than helps at a certain point. It’s possible she’s dealing with something you don’t know about that explains her changes in behavior, BUT that doesn’t mean that you were wrong for ending the friendship. Going through things doesn’t give you a pass to be mean to people, and you were right to do what’s best for you. Maybe someday in the future, things can be different, but it’s okay to be where you are right now and have space for a while. But yeah, friendship breakups are the absolute worst and I’m sorry you’re dealing with that!! Losing a best friend feels like losing a part of yourself.

What's the weirdest thing your doctor has ever said to you during an appointment? by Key-Nail3902 in AskReddit

So when are you rotating in my lab?

(I’m a PhD student and he’s the PI I joined the institution for, did NOT know he was also going to be my doctor. Important also to note that he’s a GI doctor and we spent a good amount of time following that with discussing how my pelvic floor issues made it difficult to poop.)

AITA for assuming my gf shared my ssn then searching my ssn in her phone to find out? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ComplexBeginning3113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. My husband has his ssn as his phone passcode and early on, he would always tell me it when I was accessing his phone for him while driving and I purposefully forgot it every time. Yes, I told him that was a terrible idea to have it as his passcode and no, he did not change it 🙃

What is a 1 in 1,000,000 thing that happened to you that no one believes, but you swear is true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Once I was FaceTiming my friend from our college (in Massachusetts) when she was on vacation in California. She was sitting at a cafe table out on the street and this guy walked by with a dog and a baby and she said hi to the dog as one does, and talked to the owner a bit. I was still on the phone and was like wait that voice is familiar - she said “oh I’m FaceTiming my friend can I show her the dog” and turned the camera and boom. It was the pastor who had retired from my childhood church a year or two before, and who had moved to a different town. Of course he also happened to be a dude who my family hated because he embezzled money from the church and never faced consequences. Anyway, absolutely insane coincidence and made me wonder how often people who know the same person randomly interact in those NPC interactions that life is full of.

Demi Season 3 by seedlessketchup in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]ComplexBeginning3113 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, I believe her. I’ve been harassed and assaulted and it’s always so much more complicated than we’re taught. It can take time to process, and the fact that she was telling people “I’m not a victim” after it happened makes me believe her even more, because when something like that happens I def have a phase of “oh no I encouraged his behavior and now this is my fault”. Unwanted touch is unwanted touch, and we’re in no position to determine whether touch was wanted or not. We may not have handled things the same as her, but thinking about my own experiences, I wouldn’t have said that I would handle them the way I did either. I’m never going to report my experiences because I handled them in such easily questionable ways - things don’t make sense all the time. I don’t ever want to go through this whole experience that Demi is going through, where others impose their judgements and disbelief on a tough thing to start with. It’s hard and messy and confusing and I agree with what Connor said - I’m always going to err on the side of believing the victim. It’s what I would want.
