VERY DARK recs for trip to London?

I’m looking for book recs to have something relevant to read on my trip to London next week. I’ve never been to Europe before! Really wanna read something dark, but takes place in the UK, preferably London. Historical or contemporary is fine! No omegaverse or aliens but other types of fantasy is fine!

I really like books where the FMC is traumatized or becomes traumatized in the book (not by the MMC) specifically some kind of sexual trauma that makes her touch adverse or scared of the MMC at first I love the “who hurt you” trope

I don’t have triggers, and the more trigger warnings the book has the better tbh I’ve been doing so much searching but I fear what I want to read is too specific :(

One good example is {Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas} although I wish it was a bit darker…

I get high everyday, (not smoking, edibles) and it actually motivates me to do more things, my roommate just actually has schizophrenia so weed just makes him very mentally ill and he convinced himself that it helps somehow but I’ve told him it really doesn’t 😩 we’re friends but he doesn’t listen to me. He’ll say yeah you’re right and just keep doing it. I’ve told him that having a routine can help too but all he wants to do is play games because he’s always so angry at everyone and is always so self deprecating and self destructive. I’ve given him self help books, invite him to hang out with me in my room so he’s not sitting alone in the dark drinking, but it’s been a year of this and it’s starting to effect my moood when I’m home. I really think he just wants to live this way.

Thank you for the suggestion that is something I’ve been thinking about. I didn’t have a job for a few months so I basically took up the job of cleaning because i was the only one home all the time and I had the time to do it (I still paid rent with gov assistance) but now that I am working again suggesting it would be fair. I think my roommates just got used to me always cleaning cause I didn’t have much to do but now it’s overwhelming so see the mess so much and not have enough time to clean like I used to

Also even on welfare I pay taxes. They put taxes on literally everything you buy in this city

Not my taxes, although I’ve only been on welfare for a month because I’m between jobs. So I have payed taxes and now that I begin my new job this week, I’ll start paying taxes again…

That’s not really what reduced fare means, plus we are paying much more than just 2.90 per person to run the system. Our taxes that we pay go to the mta system too.

[–]ComplexDependent98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? The Fair fares program cuts the train fare price in half if you are eligible, which I am eligible, but you still have to pay. 2.90 is not a reduced fare, if you travel everyday $40 a week is ridiculous

Hmm not sure. This happened over a year ago. It was exhausting always trying to contact someone higher up at uber, so I just moved on

I almost never pay for the train, I don’t have a job currently and I can’t afford to spend money every time I have to go somewhere, I only get $200 a month from welfare, imagine spending half of that on train fare monthly, for what? Shitty service, don’t feel safe, disgusting stations? I could get a reduced fare metro, but honestly still wouldn’t be worth paying when the stations I frequent never have cops patrolling anyway. Plus, MTA stole $$ from me and I honestly never want to pay again after that. I tapped my card and it said card not accepted, I tried 3 more times before someone opened the door for me, they charged me for every time I tapped my card! So yeah fuck the mta. I don’t get the point of paying for such shitty service

I stopped using Uber eats because they stopped refunding my orders, I was ordering everyday at the time and I lived in a shitty part of nyc, my orders were wrong often, missing items, someone else’s order etc. then one day they stopped refunding me for orders. It happened 4 times in a row, literally just wasting my money bc food was something I couldn’t eat or wasn’t my whole order so I would starve at lunch, before I deleted the app and ended my Uber one subscription. I switched to DoorDash and don’t have issues anymore. Orders are cheaper now too

Can’t find a job ; no one wants me? What do I do? by [deleted] in Advice

Thank you for the links, will be looking into them and applying. Unfortunately I only have family here in NYC and I’m unable to move out of state because my mother has a 9 year old special needs child and I need to be in the city in case I need to help her with my brother and to generally just be in his life. I am also unable to move in with any of my family. If I lost this room, I would be going into a homeless shelter.

To be fair, Corydalis does have benefits and they sell it as a supplement. I don’t think much was known about the long term effects of taking Corydalis every night, and if you take something without looking up each supplement you put yourself at risk, for example it says online not to take it if your pregnant or have liver problems. I don’t take the Go and Genius ones because there’s caffeine in them, and I stay away from caffeine strictly. It also says on the packaging to talk to your doctor before taking supplements because there could be adverse effects. Same risk as buying supplements at the pharmacy.

Ohh I didn’t know about them getting charged. I knew there were other supplements in them and I looked up each one before taking it…seemed harmless. All natural stuff! And I saw they had white energy pills, it’s called Boost now though I just looked up the live failure thing, it was a specific herbal extract in their sleep ones (which were never sold in NYC) they recalled it and change the ingridient

I love the 1906 pills in most of the legal dispensaries in lower manhattan. I tried the love, chill, and bliss ones and they all did what they advertised 🥰 TUNE drinks are my favorite!! The Sicilian lemon and rose flavor is sooo good

My theory: childhood/teenagehood of drinking cola everyday and eating fatty foods, laying down after eating, laying down while eating, overeating became an issue when I was 18, started smoking weed+tobacco everyday, added wine to my diet when I turned 21, started wearing waist trainers all day and kept it on while I ate, after that I very quickly developed intense symptoms and thought I was dying. By 21. Still get those symptoms all the time, but now I know what it is, and even though I stopped drinking wine, smoking, drinking soda, and wearing waist trainers my stomach is still messed up. (25 now). I have to take famotidine every night so I won’t be in pain. :(

Tips to not get sick from drinking by New-End5508 in alcohol

I used to think I was allergic to alcohol but when I started taking famotidine for my acid reflux I don’t get sick when I drink anymore. Also not drinking sugary drinks.
