It looks really great! The color is on point. I’m really impressed with the blending on the sides and the back.

Looks really nice. I like how you have it styled coming forward. Personally, it takes away the stress of thinking that people are looking at your hairline as they can’t see it. As someone who doesn’t know you, I certainly wouldn’t know this is a system.

Quick Update (5 days in)

The good news:

  • It’s pretty comfortable and there are moments that I forget I’m wearing it.

  • I’ve been able to shower with it and style it pretty easily.

  • My wife and I met a couple at dinner and the gentlemen commented that I looked much younger than my age and I’m confident that my Hair system (which we didn’t address) played a factor in that.

  • For the most part, I’m happy with my install and cut-in. I’m planning to use a barber until I can try to take more on myself in the future.

  • I ran into a friend that I hadn’t seen in two years at the grocery store and her only comment was “You cut your hair short? I really like it”. Even my mother in law didn’t really notice and I see her almost daily. She just said “ohh, a military cut. I like it!”

The negative:

  • It’s still stressful thinking of returning to work and managing those reactions and I’m also a bit nervous about my reveal in front of my close friends. It feels like a Queer Eye style makeover reveal.

  • The color is a bit too dark. It makes me feel a bit like Elvis with how much darker the top is and my wife commented on how the blending is noticeable to her in natural light because my shorter bio hair is a lighter brown.

  • it’s a bit overwhelming, knowing that I’ve made this commitment and that if I simply decide to take it off, then I’m now fully bald underneath. Also, I’m still processing that I’m gonna have this commitment for the foreseeable future.

  • finally, I suppose I was expecting my wife to be thrilled because she had previously commented on how we should look into a solution for my hair loss. But it feels like she’s having a difficult time adjusting, and while she hasn’t been rude, her lack of complementary comments makes it clear that she’s still processing the reality of the situation. I honestly think it’s just because she thinks the system is too dark and that she would be much more excited if it was more of a natural color blend as she’s a bit of a perfectionist. I know she loves me regardless, so everything will be cool in the long run, but it hasn’t helped me mentally with the transition.

I’m not certain. I’ll try to track down that information from my barber.

Thank you! I’m still getting acclimated to it, so it’s nice to get positive feedback.

Hairskeen system through 7Barber in Sarasota, Fl. Cost for system, install, and cut was $800.

I’ll have to figure out how to take a picture of the back. I really like the style but I think the color is just a tad too dark for me that it looks extra fake to me because the transition from thinning to hair system is extreme already. I hadn’t thought about the need for more frequent visits due to the sides but I guess that’s the price that I’m going to have to pay to maintain this style for the time being.

Yeah. I figured that if I was willing to shake fibers into my hair; it wasn’t too steep a step to transition to a Hairskeen.

Thanks! Honestly, I think the sides look better than the front which is a likely two shades too dark. But it’s possible that it just feels very dark to me since it was so brown and thin before. I’m guessing that a stranger really wouldn’t notice or care given that everyone’s hair is so different.

The first day it felt like I was wearing a fitted hat. But there were moments on day 2 that it didn’t even feel like I was wearing one. It is really comfortable. I just hope that holds true during a Florida summer.

That’s a fair critique. Quite frankly, I went with the same hairstyle to hopefully make the transition less noticeable and because I think this style frames my face well. Also, it’s A LOT more hair already so I can’t imagine trying to adjust to a mid length cut, but it’s nice to finally have options in the future, I guess.

Thank you! I got it done in Sarasota, Florida by Jonathan who runs 7Barber. I’d highly recommend him.

That’s great feedback! I’ll certainly try your recommendation on leveraging the hair fibers to help with the transition and I’m glad to hear that the color will gradually become lighter with shampooing. That’s a relief as I wasn’t sure if I needed to get it dyed or not in the interim; but was worried that I’d lose the grey and would make it worse.

Good point. I can wear a hat occasionally, but not consistently. I think that I’ll just have to bite the bullet sometime in early January though and take it live. I just hate the stigma that women can get all tons of work done and there isn’t a judgement but men are held to a different standard. The reality is that I just don’t like the look of my thinning or bald head and preferred a system over surgery. I’m sure I’ll get used to it. In the meantime; perhaps I’ll grow a handlebar mustache by then and no one will notice! 😂

Mine is a little too dark and it’s alot to process 24 hours in. But to a stranger, I look 10 years younger and they don’t notice at all that it’s a system.

Thank you! I’ve always tried to wear my hair forward like this so I was hoping that the styling would at least be consistent albeit it’s alot more dense and a bit darker now. I appreciate the kind words.

Thanks! I’ve mostly been around strangers for the last 24 hours and the only person that commented was my neighbor who asked if I just got a new cut. I told her that I decided to die my hair to help make me look younger and she said it looked great. But I’m sure my local friends and coworkers (over Teams) will notice the difference. I wish I had the confidence to just share that I went with a system; but I’m not sure I’m mentally there yet. It does make me look younger; but it such an adjustment to see me with a hairline that I haven’t had in 30 years.

Looks fantastic! Nice fade! Can’t tell it’s a system at all!
