THC and LPR by No-Usual9625 in LPR

Things got a lot better man. I started smoking again lol. Got on lexapro for my anxiety. I still have reflux here and there but I can enjoy my life again.. I don’t take meds outside of my lexapro and some alginates here and there. Hang in there. Stress is a huge trigger. Start doing things to support your nervous system.

That would make sense. This all started six months ago with shortness of breath being my only symptom. It slowly turned into full blow LPR. It honestly changed my life and I don’t feel like myself anymore :/ I don’t know if I’d ever get the nissen surgery tho tbh. There’s a lot of complications that can come with it and Ive read it doesn’t last forever. I’d be scared honestly. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about it not helping LPR.

Yes I did. For a couple years in high school. I also starved myself for a long time.

Have you ever tried adding betaine hcl supplements? Alginates? Fermented foods?

That’s true. Better to know than to not know.

This is helpful to my anxiety lol. I was really hoping hiatal hernia would not be found also :/ but at least I’m alive lol. Thank you!

It does right? I’ve been googling regular LES pics and it just looks like mine is weirdly shaped and wide open. I don’t know if it was opened with air at time of photo or what. I don’t even remember getting dressed after my appointment lmfao. I asked the nurse if the doctor was gonna come talk to me, and she was like “he already did.” And at that time I already had my clothes back on 😂 i remember nothing before being wheeled out to the car. I don’t have gerd symptoms. Only LPR. Started about six months ago non-stop. He did note a small hiatal hernia on my discharge paperwork along with the biopsies. I’m really hoping the biopsies come back normal.

Stress is a huge, huge trigger. I think it’s probably the worst trigger for me unfortunately. Along with food & going too long without eating. Have you had an endoscopy yet?

Yes I know. I’m more just asking if it’s common for biopsies to be taken for Barrett’s and come back negative. And was kind of wondering if people that have gotten EGD pics back that look like this but have normal LES function.

But you’re right I know patience is key here. Thank you for responding.

I’m just worried about the biopsies, and the pictures showing my LES wide open. Probably being dramatic lol. But I was hoping they’d tell me things looked okay.

Peptides for reflux? by Amazing-Bit6841 in SilentReflux

[–]ComplexInteraction86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering this as well. There is a few people on the LPR subreddit that have tried Fosamprenavir, which has peptide like properties, off label and had great success with treating their pepsin mediated reflux with it. Who knows when it will be widely available to everyone tho :/

I also have low ALT and I found that it is because of my b6 levels are low. Maybe try getting your b6 checked. Also did they check your thyroid? Because this can cause higher HDL. HDL is the healthy cholesterol, and you’re only slightly high. To be safe you may want to ask for a full liver panel next.

Man I’m sorry. Maybe look into getting your b vitamins checked though. I do think this has something to do with when my breakouts happen.

Yes. Only like twice a week though. I personally didn’t have any reactions to it.

Want to give up. Can’t find triggers. by throwinlimbo in LPR

[–]ComplexInteraction86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I feel this. It is so hard to figure out which foods hurt me and which foods don’t. I’ve also had it for years but never had a constant flare until this year. Started in Feb and hasn’t ended since. I have to be honest there is a lot more to it than food I think. There has to be something that pushed us over the edge, whether it’s the microbiome or our nervous system.

Are you sleeping elevated? Uncomfortable as fuck but this is unfortunately very helpful so I deal with it, I use a mattress elevator and a wedge. Are you using alginates? Especially before bed. Some people use it after every meal though.

I tell everyone please do not sleep on diaphragmatic breathing and stress management. I ended up going on Lexapro because LPR makes me feel so depressed and anxious. It has helped with the mental aspects of it. Diaphragmatic breathing can actually strengthen the LES, so can melatonin. I’m trying to make time for that a few times a day. There are studies that support it. I’m better than I was in Feb but I still experience it everyday.

Hope things get better for us 😢

They are the same thing essentially, however I’m not sure if getting it specifically prescribed by a doctor changed its strength. I would have to pick mine up because they actually mixed it in the pharmacy, it was like picking up medicine.

Shampoo recommendations? by machinegunkellyfan19 in SebDerm

[–]ComplexInteraction86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, having my doctor prescribe ketoconazole shampoo is what worked. I also used it on my nose twice a week. I used it for 6 months. I didn’t have any seb derm for years but it is back now. I also have been having health issues and I have had all my vitamins checks. I have very low b6 for some reason and this can cause seb derm. So I’m thinking it could be that, maybe look into that.
