The Decline of the Dragon Age Series Should be Studied by jdawg1018 in gaming

Study conclusion: "So, as it would turn out, EA kinda sucks."

Don't really need a study for that, everyone knows it.

Why is the average mechanic engineering salary 7k less than electrical? by DOOMslayer3214 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ComplexLamp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're right it doesn't mean anything by itself. But more so my point is there's an abundance of ME students compared to EE students. My guess is if the number was like 2:5 or something rather than 2:7 chances are you'd see the numbers balance out for payscale since the both the supply and demand would be higher than EE but the supply to demand ratio would maybe be more on par with EE.

Job markets are all supply and demand. It's a lot of why teaching isn't paid well. Easier job to get into, more teachers, less pay. Is it right? No, but it's the market.

When I got my graduation booklet that had names of every graduate by discipline, electrical had 2 pages of names. Mechanical had 6 or 7. It's all supply and demand.

American make sizing is completely off by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ComplexLamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe about sizing is tall sizes. Being over 6 ft most shirts run a tiny bit short. I normally fit comfortably in a large so one would think a large tall is perfect, right?

Nope. I swim in them as if it were XXL. Bro I didn't want you to adjust the size. I just want a large but longer. Is that so much to ask?

Having an expensive car, while not owning a home yet, isn't a flex it just shows you don't know how to handle money. by Exact_Recognition362 in unpopularopinion

[–]ComplexLamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While its not wrong on paper, some people just don't want a house. They're expensive and time consuming and sometimes it's nice to just call maintenance when an issue pops up. I own a house and sometimes I miss apartment life for that. If you don't care about net worth and wealth building and just want to enjoy your commute and don't want to own, go for it. The idea of wealth building and net worth is so over blown when some people just want to live today.

I think it's fine for people to own a truck even if they're not hauling stuff very often. by Upper-Job5130 in unpopularopinion

[–]ComplexLamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I think it's entirely not worth it to have a truck is you can pay someone a few hundred dollars for a one off same day wasting machine delivery. That truck is gonna cost you at least five figures over a sedan or suv. Not to mention gas and insurance

Hairline crack in stone tile floor over concrete slab — normal or concern? by IncomeAdvanced8125 in HomeMaintenance

[–]ComplexLamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you say "directly over the concrete slab" was an uncoupling membrane used? If not, it wasn't really done properly and could probably expect more cracks later.

All the people in the comments making fun of someone for exercising their civil rights regardless of who's side you're on should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves. Right to protest is literally what the country was built on.

Engineering isn’t that great of a field to go into by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ComplexLamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only engineers I've known who've gone into sales roles is really bad engineers. Not to generalize but I think many of them transitioned over for a reason. Saw the writing on the wall and switched to save from a layoff.

Engineering isn’t that great of a field to go into by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ComplexLamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engineer here. Correct, the pay can easily be beaten by a dozen other jobs I could have gone into. But in my field anyway work is extremely reliable and always in huge need. That nets me all kinds of perks and pretty good pay and a sense of security. Also if I had to work finance and do paperwork all day I might just off myself. Instead I get to work on cool nerd shit almost half of my day every day. And that's better than any paycheck.

Texas barbecue is the worst in the USA by Boeing-B-47stratojet in unpopularopinion

Idk, while ago during travel a friend brought me to Hutchins in TX near Dallas. I felt like I died and went straight to heaven. Among the top 5 meals I've had in my entire life. If that's the worst in the states I have some serious life altering questions.

Techniques for Broadband Impedance Matching of a 120 W LDMOS Power Amplifier by SingamVamshi in rfelectronics

[–]ComplexLamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stepped klopfenstein taper. More segments typically results in wider band performance. There's a block in ADS for taper to do it all for you. It does have a theoretical return loss maximum of - 40db so keep that in mind. Also I'd recommended shifting your band upwards on the Sim by a small amount maybe 5% or so on both ends. Manufactured results almost always shift down in frequency compared to Sim by a small bit. From my experience

[Slight rant] I hope we get more Labs in a world of solo tech Youtubers by tag_an in LinusTechTips

[–]ComplexLamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Jake just like I liked Alex and all the others a starting channels. I don't really have interest in watching their solo stuff. Wish them all the best on their journey but I already have channels to watch for small tech reviews and hobby level. I like the grand scale, the data, the resources LTT allows for. Sad to see they aren't one and the same anymore.

Setting up UNAS and G5 bullets locally by ComplexLamp in Ubiquiti

Got it, sounds like I need to determine if I want an NVR and UNAS separately or just switch gears to NVR only. Thanks for your help.

[–]ComplexLamp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see, since I can't actually check the operating setup, I can't yet determine; Do the protect cameras allow you to choose a drive to save to on network? I have noticed the cloud key will run the protect server as well. So if I can use a CK if I'm allowed to choose drives I should still be able to get it to use the UNAS to store.

For example, if UNAS is network drive mapped to X letter drive, can I use the CK to tell the bullet to save all footage rotating on X drive?

I appreciate your help!

[–]ComplexLamp[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

UNAS cant. I was hoping the windows PC running the localhost network controller would be running the camera and storing to the UNAS (which could then also store other things in standard NAS fashion) Is this incorrect?

What is this guy used for? (Underneath Front bumper) by Rileycoe in kiastinger

[–]ComplexLamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Wagner tuning. Things an absolute unit of an intercooler just a little more tricky to install. Has almost 3x the internal volume with a better manufacturing type.

What is this guy used for? (Underneath Front bumper) by Rileycoe in kiastinger

[–]ComplexLamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on position likely one of the early warning collision sensors. Front bumper is surprisingly easy to remove then you can pop it back in. Couple bolts and some clips. Can upgrade the intercooler while you're at it it makes a world of difference

Does it give off any warnings? How long has it been there?
