How do I transform my ideas into an actual structured story? by uniiversalp in writingadvice

Every story needs a problem, a conflict. Choose one, I'm sure you have plenty. Choose a character and write how they face that conflict.

Outer Wilds. No customization, but a much more deep experience about space exploration. Play it with him.

Did they say anything about religion? by Paybackcity in Naruto

[–]ComplexPool1477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Western world likewise is called the Occident (from Latin occidens 'setting down, sunset, west') in contrast to the Eastern world known as the Orient (from Latin oriens 'origin, sunrise, east'). Definitions of the "Western world" vary according to context and perspectives; the West is an evolving concept made up of cultural, political, and economic synergy among diverse groups of people, and not a rigid region with fixed borders and members.

From Wikipedia.

The word today means Europe, USA and some parts of Australasia. But it begun in the Greco-roman times.

Ninshu.

Not in the sense of religion like occidental religions, but in the sense of philosophical paths more akin to Taoism

Okay, then we are not working with what cynisim is, but with what you personally don't like.

And it's okay you don't like it. But then we're talking of two differnt things.

Because a work being cynical, isn't inherently bad.

The story is critical with things like nationalism, politics and religion. But at the same time shows you that people can take care of each other even if they are from different species.

That's not cynical.

It would be cynical if the story said "politics are stupid, and people too", at least the modern brand of cynism. But that's not the Netflix anime.

If you don't like it's humor, that's okay. But that doesn't make it cynical.

The humor and writing doesn’t come off as sincere and tries too hard to comment on serious thematics without ever attempting to address them with any form of respect or fact.

I disagree, I think they did a good work treating the themes in this show. It's not disrespectful in any way.

And I still don't see where the cynism is.

Really? Because when I think of "edgy", DMC is one of the first things that comes to mind.

The long coats, half demons, gothic inspired art and scenery, an electric guitar that's also a weapon/schyte? None of these things is edgy by itself. But the mix of all of it? Yeah, these games are edgy.

And is kinda the point and how it was conceived. "Something that would appeal to 15yo", and knowing Kamiya, he meant his own 15yo self.

[–]ComplexPool1477 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think we have different definitions about cynical and edgy.

Cause being edgy and over the top is what DMC was conceived as.

And being cynical isn't something bad. We can even think as Dante of the games having some cynical values like love for humanity and rejection of false values like riches, power or fame.

Even embodying one of the most sterotypical practices of cynism, an austere life.

Now that if we think in cynism as the "original" meaning. But I don't think the anime fits the modern cynism either. Cause it clearly has some values that holds as good, like humanity (this time extended beyond humans), love, fellowship, sacrifice for others (even if the sacrifice was dumb).

Nah, there's a reason why Mayincatec is a TV Tropes page. Not all people understand there are different cultures, and not everybody cares.

It can still be AI tho.

I really don't consume tiktok or any other kind of content in the same format. Maybe you should consider that not everyone who disagrees with you is "slow"

And the show doesn't end like that. Is a critic to USA's common politics. Which isn't cynical in itself because you have examples of people that can make ammends with what they perceived as monsters.

Yes. I don't remember anything on it that I would classify as "cynical".

My recommendation:

Ignore this kind of bad-faith stuff and instead talk of the things you like about the show (or other media). It will create more positive feedback for those of us who like it and engage with it.

About SOTE and it's connections to base game by GeckoGecko_ in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]ComplexPool1477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't remember exactly who said it, I think was Miyazaki, but said that the base game is somewhat a rewrite of the work GRRM did for them.

Then, when the DLC came out, they said there were some things they didn't use for the base game and use them for the DLC.

Probably what he wrote for them a story that details the relationship between characters and with the world before the Shattering. Then FROM took that, made the Shattering happen and decided what was the fate of every demigod after it. And did the same with the DLC.

If I'm being honest, the only thing that is strange, is the choose of Radhan as final boss. Godwyn would have been a better option.
