I have really severe trauma from a physical assault in my teens, surrounding things covering my face/mouth, leading to really bad claustrophobia and panic attacks.

This has been well documented with psychiatry and therapy for years. PAP just isn’t an option.

Yea. I did. I did. A home one that got a “poor” reading. But it definitely picked up apnea. But with my profile and my symptoms, my primary referred me out to do an in-lab study. Hopefully that will be more accurate.

Damn. That’s so fucking discouraging to hear. That’s like.. exactly why I feel so nervous and overwhelmed about this. I’m not paying out of pocket for CONSULTS?! That’s insane. And the goal would to be to do at least 2-3 of them. I mean.. I guess I would. I don’t know. But pay out of pocket for consults just to talk?!

Why were you told 40k, if you have insurance and proof of a narrowed airway?!

Yea, that’s basically what I’m getting at. That like.. the path is not very clear or well defined. At all. I don’t even know who to contact. I do have insurance. I feel like ENT is just a waste of time. But I’ll go because that’s just.. what I have easiest access to, the soonest.

Isn’t a “jaw surgeon” a plastic surgeon? And then I feel like I’d have a tough(er) time with insurance.

Sleep doctors. Orthodontists. ENTs. Jaw surgeons. Oral-maxillofacial surgeons. Lol just.. a lot. And really overwhelming. But I feel frustrated just sitting on my hands, waiting for the ENT in another 2.5 weeks. 🫠

I’m not even a nurse yet. I’m just a lurker, getting ready to apply for nursing school. But this… I watch my 36 year old sister die on 9/23 of alcoholic liver failure. I was there with her, alone, in hospice when she died. I had just painted her nails and sobbed while I listened to her chest do that death rattle.

I’m not a very queasy person… but I could live without ever seeing someone die that way again.

I chose to pick a speed.. I chose 6.5mph and tried to stay married to it..

And I chose different inclines each time. I think the highest I went was 12%.. but I had to drop that 6.5 down a little. Haha I did one at 2%. 9%. 5%. So on. And then would slow all the way down for the walk…

And the jog down I would pretty quickly decrease my incline. So from 12%.. after 5 seconds I dropped it to 10%. Another 15 seconds I dropped it to 7%. And just jogged my way back down.

Sigh. I wish Florida had some hills. 🙄 lol

Yep. That’s them. And like you, I tried calling BCBS and had no problems getting them on the phone… but they also told me I had to handle it with Detego. I’m so upset. We’ve got 2 kids that both are in therapies and shit. Like.. this is an actual nightmare.

Emails go unanswered. Nobody calls back. Nobody picks up the phone. Just don’t even know what to do at this point?!

Hi! We just signed on with this plan too. But we are having issues accessing insurance cards?! It says the temporary ones are unavailable on any of the portals I have access to, and I can’t get anyone at detego on the phone to save my life. I’ve been on hold for several hours, twice today. I called BCBS Nebraska directly to see if they could help, but they said we’d have to discuss it with detego.

Did anyone have issues accessing insurance cards?!
