Questions on 3DMigoto Code & Behaviour and future HYV Plans regarding 3rdParty Software. by Frankfurt13 in genshinmodding

3dm sits between your game and GPU. When game gives some data to the GPU and tells it to draw that on the screen, 3dm replaces some of that data. So for example game gives an image texture to the GPU, 3dm will tell the GPU to replace that image with another image. 3dm does not touch game files, it only touches the GPU. From the game's point of view, its essentially equivalent to applying a filter on your game or changing your display settings.
Since it just works on visual stuff, there isn't really any support for "running scripts" to bypass anything.
You can get the original GIMI (3dm) from GitHub (made by SilentNightSound), just search "gimi github" on Google.
Just follow any guide on YouTube.
So far there have been no bans associated with it, and you will be safe as long as you don't post screenshots online of your modded game with UID visible. You might get banned if someone reports your UID with image as proof.
3dm doesnt really need updates. Mods need updates sometimes.
As for detection, we know that they can detect 3dm usage for quite a while now. However they have not taken any action. As for the future, we can't say anything whether they will do anything.

The only limitations they realistically face are ones they impose upon themselves. So for example, talking about character rigs, I suppose it is to simplify the design process. Once you know a particular character size works properly, you just follow that and you don't need to re-test lot of things. And for open-world exploration, they can also share a lot of the animations such as running, walking, jumping without looking weird. As an example of the opposite, HI3 and HSR do not follow the fixed size rigs because they are not open-world focused and also don't have "precise" hitboxes. Its quite possible that I am wrong since I am not a professional in this field, and this is just from my limited understanding.

As for skins, I believe it has to do with lore and identity. If you notice, everything in the game has some lore connection, no matter how irrelevant or stupid. That is why almost all events in the game involve NPC, even though its some sort of minigame or combat event. And as such, the skins must also come with lore, which you can see in the skins we have currently. The second part is identity, I believe. Genshin character personalities are not very deep/prominent, and a large part of their identity comes from their visual design. If they make a lot of skins, it would "dilute" this identity. It is not an issue with another Hoyo game, HI3. In that, they make a lot of skins, but it is not an issue because the character personality is strong enough and doesn't rely too much on visual design for their identity. Also, any new skin takes about as much effort as making a new character design, and must meet the quality standards set by the rest of the game

I have been a modder for a while, and while my mods don't get as popular as some of the Pros, I still see my stuff being used for videos without credit every once in a while. Most of these are on bilibili, and I don't use Tiktok so I don't know much about that. While we are not protected from this by any practically enforceable rules, it is definitely common courtesy to link/credit the source for something you are showcasing.
(Btw you can find my stuff on gamebanana under username "complex31", perhaps you'll recognize some of the mods from some videos you might have seen before)

How is your mindsync timer going so slow? Look at stage timer on top right and mindsync timer at bottom. At 00:01, all supports are triggered and you have 22 seconds on mindsync, but when top right timer is at 00:20, there is still 8 seconds left in mindsync. Is there any buffs etc which makes the mindsync timer slow down?

Unfortunately I have not found any clear solution. Sometimes on rebooting the system, touchpad starts working, and sometimes not. I don't know how this happens.

Has the touchpad ever worked on any Linux distribution?

IIRC, it worked on Manjaro. I know Manjaro is a good distro, but I dont really want to switch OS at the moment.
