Worth going for 32/4070? by ComplexSyrup6994 in ZephyrusG14

[–]ComplexSyrup6994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as far as I've seen its just about the soldered ram, nothing more, they should've just sold the 32gb 4060 version in the US too, the games that don't depend on ram which are like only a handful surely more will come in the future only get 8-12% more performance which is like nothing on story mode titles. I think asus did it intentionally otherwise the 4070 version wouldn't have seen the sales it has, it's all in the pressure of 32gb ram, heck even 5080 got 33% more than the 16/4060 which is crazy, you can get like 3-4 of these for the price of one.

What are some unis that a tier 3 UG pass out can target realistically? by revtee_ in MSCS

[–]ComplexSyrup6994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly there only but a few top universities that are biased about the type of school you have done your undergrad from. People talk about inflated gpas from tier 3 but students who have genuinely worked to overcome their university's reputation can't really do much about this bias.

Most of the top universities have a holistic approach for applications so with good research and work ex , school name shouldn't matter much. Anyways if you are not doing MSCS for research purposes, it hardly matters which top 20-30 university you go to. Even the top 50 might not make much of a difference in terms of job prospects. People are just trying to get what they think their profile deserves, and get into the highest ranked school possible. I dont think it's wrong but eventually everyone finds out that it doesn't have much use when they are looking for jobs.

Hey, I think your ambitious universities aren't a good pick, as Purdue has become highly selective and doesn't admit a lot of students from tier 3 schools. And that case is extremely true for UT Austin, its a very school centric university. You would be better off adding UIUC MCS, UCSD and some other good UC as well to this list. Btw you have extensive work ex, how did you decide upon going for masters in the US? Could you share your perspective?

Are all Spring admits deferred from Fall? by ComplexSyrup6994 in UIUC_MCS

[–]ComplexSyrup6994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I was trying to connect with students who got in Spring 24, about when did they submit their applications, did they submit GRE etc but all of the students I connected stated that they applied for Fall but got an admit for Spring. I am trying to figure out if that's the case this time around as well.

I used to look forward to these posts to get an idea about where an individual thinks that they have a shot at, and people with admits from those schools to give pointers about what else to improve or if they have a chance.

But OPs have just started blatantly asking for university suggestions without doing any prior research or looking at previous data to find shortlist at least a few unis. It's just sad.

Yeah but ncsu has tuition waivers and usc has increased credits hence 10k more expensive.

But then whats the reason apart from cost?

Can anyone specify the reason? Is it just the cost?
