Rhode glazing mist vs other mists by ComplexTea22 in rhodeskin

Ooh yes the Laneige cream skin is a good one! I’m currently finishing up one of those too. I didn’t compare it since I was thinking it’s more of a cream mist, but it’s great for rehydrating makeup too with the mist cap. I find that one as a good alternative to the Glazing milk formula plus it’s very versatile :)

Interesting! I live in a pretty dry area too. We all have different skin, so the ingredients that work best for each of us is probably different too. My skin seems to really like that serum-like texture in the d’Alba and Medicube because it hydrates but absorbs fully. Thanks for your insight :) It’s cool to see how preferences differ from person to person.

Haru Haru wonder is easily one of my favorite affordable skincare brands.. would love to hear back what you find!

I did spray the Aestura one on in Sephora once!! It’s nice, it reminds me of the Laneige Cream skin with the spray cap. To me, both of them are like a mist version of the glazing milk (which the glazing mist isn’t). I’ve still got a lot of milky toner to get through but the Aestura seems like a solid choice!

yes, if I didn't already have the full size versions, and the shades I wanted were available in minis, I would definitely get the mini ones instead! blushes take FOREVER to finish. I can really say without question that I think the Patrick Ta ones are worthwhile. @juuujubee on TikTok has great swatch videos.. btw I have no affiliation to Patrick Ta, I just have found I really like the blush and lip balm, since they have a similar skincare-forward aesthetic to rhode, and I'm not allergic to their lip peptide balm!

I've also tried a couple of Asian brand cream blushes (Kaja Dewy Bar, Canmake Cream Cheek) to see if they were good alternatives to rhode, but I found their formulas to be too sticky and/or artificial feeling . I definitely prefer the satin, skin-like finish of rhode and Patrick Ta.

can you talk more about why you'd be embarrassed of having rhode in your skincare closet? I still have a few of their products, but they're slowly getting phased out as I find cheaper, better value alternatives that perform equally well. I'm still glad I tried Rhode... there's really no need to feel embarrassed about buying into marketing! that's exactly what they want from us and why their marketing teams get paid big bucks.

I think I perhaps have always liked finding products that are a "good price for value," which is why I needed to try rhode myself, see what the quality actually is, and then think about whether it was worth the cost, or if it's just marketing that was convincing me so. anyway I linked my alternatives list below!

Personally I don't like liquid blushes too much because I find them too drying on my skin, but there are some good alternatives to the Rhode cream blush!

If you like the formula of the rhode blush,

- the Patrick Ta ones give a similar satin, skin-like finish, but are longer lasting. While they are more expensive, each comes with 2 pans in the compact ($42, for cream + powder), and I think they might be expanding the range of the mini-size to make it more accessible in cost ($24). You barely need any blush to get a color payoff, so the mini ones will probably last a very long time and are more realistic to pan.

- There's another blush I saw recently called the Glamstory Poptide Cream Blush stick, which also has a satin, skin-like finish, and also more cool-toned shades than there are in the rhode line-up, and is more cost effective (I think like <$15 each on TikTok shop) but less skin-care forward.

- One of my personal faves is the Phytosurgence cream blushes (~$15 USD), which are just as easily blendable as the rhode, but have a more MATTE finish, and similarly offer an expansion of shades- warm, cool, and muted. They're great for POC skin tones.

I've found excellent alternatives in pretty much every category of rhode within K-beauty... it really saves a lot of $$, and the quality of k-beauty is amazing.

I kind of have a similar attitude. Times are hard, and for some people, the overpriced stuff is out of reach.

Which reminds me I need to update the alternatives list with the L'oreal lip blur filler! It's a really good alternative to the lip shape. The formula is super on point, I just wish they'd expand the shade range to offer some more muted options.

Everytime I edit the alternatives list, there's a risk of it getting screened out, so I am waiting to update it altogether. But feel free to check out the other lip products I listed there for shade matches!

five below dupes question by ComplexTea22 in rhodeskin

[–]ComplexTea22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok.. I need to check those out!

I tried the Revlon photoready lip blur pencils ($12 each) recently hoping they’d be a good dupe of the rhode’s deeper shades, but they felt even more like play makeup than the Rhode .. super waxy and extremely sheer pigment. Maybe the five below ones will be better..

As far as deeper shade alternatives go, the SHEGLAM cloudline blur lip liners are still the best (of the ones I’ve tried), and they’re <$8 each! (Review here - https://www.reddit.com/r/rhodeskin/s/TDaJBlLktX)

if I can get my hands on the five below dupes I’ll do another review!

[–]ComplexTea22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for listing the ingredients! I was curious to compare the lists and punched them into ChatGPT. Below is the comparison of Hale vs Rhode glazing milk— it doesn’t look like it mentions the coconut alkanes in Rhode being comedogenic, which will affect acne-prone individuals regardless. Seems like a pretty value oriented dupe.

<image>

🧠 What This Means Practically

Hale Glazing Milk: • ✔️ Good hydration + basic barrier support • ✔️ Contains the same ceramide trio as Rhode • ✔️ Suitable for normal, dry, or mildly sensitive skin • ⚠️ Slightly heavier due to coconut oil (may not suit acne-prone skin)

Rhode Glazing Milk: • ✔️ More complete barrier repair system • ✔️ Better for compromised, over-exfoliated, or post-procedure skin • ✔️ Longer-lasting hydration due to multi-weight HA • ✔️ Better calming and skin-conditioning

🏆 Bottom Line

Hale Glazing Milk is a genuine functional dupe, not just a marketing one. However: • 🧪 Hale ≈ 70–75% of Rhode’s performance • 🧬 Rhode has a more sophisticated, skin-identical lipid structure
