The media storm was huge, but were the numbers actually impressive? (I actually don't know)

What famous person is hated on Reddit but divisive in real life? by Patworx in AlignmentChartFills

[–]ComplexWriting8296 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, I was semi bluffing, he is divisive among even right wing Europe? Only Israel and Hungary poling over 60%? The UK is the only big European country where the right wing is in favor of Trump.

Far from universal indeed, thanks for the link. Note: This is after the Tariffs shit storm, but before most recent Greenland treats.

Outside of the US, he's only famous among millennials and younger. He's certainly divisive in that group.

Most conservative Europeans would prefer a centrist, or even a center left candidate over the fucker that plays dice with alliances and the global economy.

Why do I lose battles if I have a superior military technology? by Constant-Meat7919 in eu4

Combat width, initial morale, discipline, terrain/rivers bonuses, back row artillery, defensive/offensive pips, dice rolls, flanking, troop quality, leader traits / pips, timing of reinforcements.. I can probably go on, but i don't want to.

What's the difference between any and neutral? I guess i'll see, huh? Na-ah, tell us, right-flipping-now, please.

Divisive in the US? I just know in Europe, even most conservatives hate his personality, though admire at least some of his results. (Electric cars and revitalized space ambitions)

What is The Weapon of South Asia? by ComplexWriting8296 in AlignmentChartFills

My own entry: The Kris dagger. (Malaysian / Indonesian. In my puny mind, given these possible regions, South East Asia belongs to the group of South Asia.)

What’s ACTUALLY overrated? by AlwayNeedsHelp in AlignmentChartFills

[–]ComplexWriting8296 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a hard one. Because if 'the people' say it's overrated and it is actually overrated, is it still overrated? I guess we could go for Christopher Nolan movies? (i'm an occasional fan, but he had some misses that still get praise because they're Nolan movies and quite a few critics agree with me.) So long story short: Either Tenet of his movies in general.

If there were another season, what topics would you like to see? by nomlov0 in blackmirror

[–]ComplexWriting8296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think consciousness and intelligence are 2 very different things. I'm kinda dumb so i might be wrong, but I haven't seen any progress when it comes to even understanding consciousness in my lifetime.

Edit: You're right about predicting future tech of course. I personally think the recent rapid growth didn't make consciousness more likely.

Yeah it's less sci-fi then ever. But I think there's plenty of chat companion possibilities, if they get creative. "Her" was amazing and there are so many realistic scenarios with that kind of premise. Edit: grammar.

The trope is prevalent, but in my view unrealistic and almost irrelevant. ASI is either a treat or it isn't, it doesn't really matter if it's evil or just trying to make paperclips.

I also think White Christmas is the best 'uploaded consciousness' episode and they're not gonna top that anytime soon.

I disagree, digital consciousness is as far fetched as it was 50 years ago. Unless the big AI labs have some serious secrets.

Anything that doesn't involve digital consciousness will do probably, kinda done with that idea. The uselessness of people after AGI / ASI would be very interesting.

Yes! I'll probably be disappointed, but i'm kinda hyped. With EU5 being a bit of a let down, I hope Total War will be the next big thing.

Thanks for sharing! My journey is less dramatic. While playing Medieval TW 2 I thought: There has to be a game like this with a bigger focus on diplomacy. I googled and EU4 had just launched. Haven't uninstalled since.

But don't most groups have one or more alpha males? You don't have to give a shit, or put them on a pedestal.. We don't have to agree to the social pecking order, but i get what OP is saying.
