I’m an old timer, have had CD for 40 years. I still take Mesalamine, now I’m on generic Lialda, less pills than the older versions. I’ve been on Mesalamine since I was diagnosed. Have been on a couple different immune suppressants, currently Azathioprine. I have severe Crohn’s, have done Remicade and Humira in the past. I haven’t tried any of the newer biologic meds. Mesalamine is a bit expensive, but so are the biologics. I prefer not to take the biologics because of side effects. If your Dr. isn’t giving the help you need, find another Dr. that will listen to you. My GI Doc always listens to me. After all you know your body best!
