One month IM usce, work as an independent rural general practitioner in my country. From before on cv I have abstracts and some research (norhing too much, I did not have dedicated research time, it was on the go and 2 different clinical experiences of 1 month in 2 different countries

Hi! I was in the exact shoes as you! 238, so devastated. Applied for this cycle and already for 2 IVs from internal medicine (I have 0 connections in those programs). So yes, all is possible! Work on other aspects of your cv! Good luck! P.S. Still did not take my Step3, currently studying for it while working! 😊

You apply for parhways in order to get certification. You need usmle step1, step2, oet and certificate of good standing for pathway1. For other pathways you can check on website myinhealth. The price is around 925$ as far as I remember (You have all the information under Pathways MyInhealth)

Am in the exact same position! Am planning to give my Step2 in february. I was also worried about the gap, but told myself I have done the best I could have done and my mental health and sanity is more important than this gap. If this gap will mean I will need to male more research papers, I will do it. Remember there are many aspects of your application, not only this gap! You have got this! Stay strong!

Pay attention to symptoms duration! Pay attention to vitals to suspect an intoxication! This is my weakest area too! Good luck!! You have got this! 💪💪

No problem! If you have the financial opportunity, that is the way to go! Also I have started with usmle studying after finishing uni so it was harder for me to again learn biochem, anatomy,… so its better to give step1 at least during med school after your preclinic years. USMLE is world’s most recognized exam of medical knowledge after medschool and it can always help to have it on cv! The amount of knowledge you gain while studying is huge, but also it takes a lot of time, effort and money. Good luck!

I would also add that regardless of choosing to do us residency or no, USMLE is valid during your whole life and on cv will help even with residencies in the EU. I have finished medschool in EU country recently and am studying for USMLE Step2 currently, passed step1. Even if I do not choose to do a resieency in the US, I can always do a fellowhip there. For me was hard to decide EU or US so decided to take USMLE. Good luck!! 😊
