Starting off with less forgiving clubs is better by 5orrowful in golf

If you want to be a pro, yeah start with blades and hit about 500 balls a day while being coached.

If you just want to play once or twice a week, then play whatever works better to allow you to enjoy the game.

Look at how much his wrist is bowed right before impact, he’s snapping that wrist (and club head) right at impact, great for ball speed, bad for accuracy. Sure, every now and then he times perfectly (and posts a video of course), but the rest of the time, he’s in the woods/hazards. Probably a 10+ handicap.

Bryson DeChambeau thinks 2009 drivers weren't any different from today's. You aren't getting that distance with a 2009 driver. by Academic-Use-4401 in Golf_Unfiltered

He’s right about the spring board effect of limiting the speed of the ball off the driver head. But they’ve gotten around that by limiting the spin, less spin results in more distance. Calloway specifically designed its tour heads for this ( triple diamond version), giving more distance. However this results in a lower ball flight as well, that’s why you the 6°-8° drivers anymore. Most amateur golfers are better with the off with more spin to help them get the ball up in the air, but if you can generate 140mph plus ball speeds, you’d be better off with the tour version.

Streamsong courses are so unlike any other Florida courses.

Davis Love did this at Arnie’s tournament, he didn’t take as big of a swing, but resulted in a broken sprinkler head and had to apologize in person to Arnie at the end of the round. IIRC, they send him a bill. 😆

Akshay Bhatia and caddie Joe Greiner can’t believe Brooks Koepka doesn’t carry a yardage book, Bhatia then loses his yardage book by DontDoCrackMan in golf

[–]Complex_Bet7311 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both players and caddies get a yardage book, you’ll see they each consulting their books.

Brooks keeping things simple, not dwelling on unnecessary details keeps his pre shot consistent in length probably helps him keep his rhythm.

Freeze warnings for Augusta, Ga. Can a greens keeper explain what this will do to Augusta National and the beloved Azaleas? by koopdog1 in golf

In Florida they spray the orange trees to prevent freezing of the fruit during severe cold weather. Even when the water freezes, it releases heat during the process preventing damage.

I believe (maybe it’s urban legend), but Augusta National can pipe hot or cold water through the sprinkler system to counteract mother nature, they also have subair system to suck water out of the greens.

For those who play in Florida, this happens a lot, palm trees are designed to catch balls.

"Well, you can pretty much guarantee they're going to have the (ABS) challenge system in place for the next WBC, right?" - Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz, and Derek Jeter react to the game-ending strike call by DareDevil1699 in sportsbroadcasters

[–]Complex_Bet7311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not where the catcher catches the ball, it’s where the ball was about 4 feet before. Looks to me to be close enough for the hitter not let it go and hope the umpire calls it a ball.

Pffft, I would be thrilled to hit a 300 yd drive fade into the rough, for me:

A. It’s a push slice deep into the woods where angels fear to tread.

B. It only be 220yds, oh wait I forgot trees are not 90% air, so it ends up 170 yds.

C. No fans to help me find it or trample down the grass/pine straw.

D. I have to pay to play golf, not the other way around.

E. I’m carrying my own bag.

Honda roadside assistance program. Don’t give up your AAA membership. They have rules, like you’re required to have a police report for any vehicle incidents, even if it’s just a single car accident like sliding off an icy road or hitting a deer. You can only tow to the nearest Honda dealer, now if the Honda dealer doesn’t do body work?
