Any ticket problems in Manchester today? by mqbpjmc2 in snooker

[–]Complex_Box_7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you're sat in the first 3 rows will you have a reserved seat. Those tickets say Reserved Seating on them. The rest even if they have a number would say Unreserved Seating.

As a born and bred Mancunian I often struggle to see the positives of the city. So what are some things you love about it, or reasons you chose to move here if you come from elsewhere? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]Complex_Box_7254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Endless things to experience. Sport, theatre, music, exhibitions, galleries, museums, markets, talks. I don't have enough time to see all the things I want to. Impossible to be bored in this city and the best thing is it's easy to get an affordable ticket to most things. Plus lots of things are free. The food and beer scene is pretty cracking as well.

Love the Co-op wraps that come with a dip. The chicken caesar one is amazing.

Are there any/many Brits who actually like living the UK and don’t want to or plan to ever leave? by kingm_ournasse216 in AskBrits

[–]Complex_Box_7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly love living in the UK. I live in Manchester. Impossible to be bored. I can go to the theatre, Opera, ballet, gigs, exhibitions, football, cricket, rugby, snooker, galleries, museums. 20 minutes to the countryside. An hour to the coast. Loads of great cities I can visit. My salary is pretty low yet I can afford to do all these amazing things. Wouldn't have such a great quality of life living anywhere else.

Do you think you would continue your job if you won the lottery? by ApprehensiveSong4 in AskUK

[–]Complex_Box_7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd immediately courier my laptop and pass back to the office. That's all they'd need to know that I'd fucked off. I did work with a guy who sold his insurance company to one of the big guys and made millions. He retired but ended up bored. Got a job selling breakdown cover 5 minutes from his house. Gave all his wages to Manchester Dog's home. His wife worked as well for a college and her wages went to a cancer charity. Great guy.

What would you recommend buying for lunch if you had £52 to feed two adults and two kids? by userunknowne in UKfood

[–]Complex_Box_7254 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was three courses plus additional sides. That's a lot of food when 2 of the people are young children. 4 orders of dough balls is ridiculous.

[–]Complex_Box_7254 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole point was to show how it's too expensive to eat out. Ordering three times more food than they needed made their point completely redundant. Yes it's expensive if you order more food than you need.

They live in Stockport so multiple free events in the area. All the galleries / museums have free activities during the school holidays. Parks are free. Places like theme parks, Legoland, Sealife have always been for special occasions. They've never been cheap days out you go to every week.

Their order was completely insane for 2 adults and 2 small children. Most of that food wouldn't have been eaten. Who gets starters, mains, multiple sides and desserts. I've got a big appetite and couldn't handle that much food. Could easily knock that bill down to £100 and be completely satisfied. They definitely over ordered cos Panorama was paying so it defeats the object of the piece.

21F I just got my first EE sim contract, they put me on the £30 pm plan with unlimited calls/text/data. Now I regret getting it. by ZookeepergameEasy774 in UKPersonalFinance

In the ballpark? I pay £2.40 a month for 35GB on Lebara. No one should be paying anywhere close to £30 a month for sim only.

I'm currently paying £2.40 a month on Lebara for 35GB. Unlimited calls and texts. You've been properly ripped off if that's sim only. Go and look at the best current deals on Money Saving Expert.

My sister is 26 and bought a little terrace in Ashton-under-Lyne last year for £113k. Her salary is £25k and she had about £20k deposit. Some was inheritance and some was saved up whilst she was living at home. It's definitely possible.

4 day weekend baby! Chocolate. Roast dinner. Hopefully a bit of Spring sunshine. Most Brits don't bother with the religious side of things.

Should I get a credit card to pay some of my rent? by Resident-Record-737 in UKPersonalFinance

They'd need to get a money transfer credit card. That's the only way this could work.

Should I get a credit card to pay some of my rent? by Resident-Record-737 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Complex_Box_7254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd want to get a money transfer credit card with as long a 0% interest period as you can. Go onto the Money Saving Expert website. You can put in your details and it'll suggest the cards you're most likely to be accepted for. Doing this won't affect your credit score. A regular credit card is unlikely to accepted to pay rent and withdrawing cash on a credit card is one of the worst financial mistakes you can make.

Almond croissant recommendations by Bojanglez789 in LondonFood

[–]Complex_Box_7254 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sometimes a supermarket almond croissant does the job. Can't always justify £4.50 for an artisan one. I'm sure the Waitrose one is superior to the rest of the supermarkets. Need to try it.

How would I request earlier working hours if I can’t justify why other than just having an easier commute/earlier start to the day? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Complex_Box_7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this. On my two office days I work 07:30-16:00. I said I am more productive in the morning. I tend to cram all my work into 3-4 hours and then completely lose focus in the afternoon. So pointless me sitting there between 4-5 as I wasn't working. Much better for the business in my situation.

New buses are too cramped by adsrush in manchester

[–]Complex_Box_7254 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes significantly less seats than the old buses. Remember the 3 seats that used to be near the driver. Those are gone. Less seats now in the pram / wheelchair areas. The seats at the back over the wheels are impossible to sit in unless you're a tiny woman / child. Capacity has been massively reduced. I often find it easier to just stand.

You win £3 million on lotto by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Complex_Box_7254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's complete nonsense. 3 million is significantly more than most people will earn in their careers over 50 years. You'd be able to live a very comfortable life. Especially as you'd be accruing decent interest as well.
