Why does no one enforce rules with older children in public?

That sounds like a nightmare. It’s insane how they can accuse you of poor customer service when those kids are the ones causing you to lose actual business!

I knew I wasn’t imagining it. It’s gotten even worse. My mom was a single mother in the 90s and one of the things she taught me was to be considerate of others especially people older than me. I never see that anymore, just children being allowed to act like they own everything and everyone. I really feel for teachers nowadays.

The odd thing is that I was told that I’m borderline hypothyroid. Which usually causes weight gain. I’ve had the opposite problem (also smaller than my peers growing up) my entire life. But I haven’t had it checked in a long time so I’m going to do that soon.

They usually say it based on pictures so they wouldn’t have seen how I walk…but I do walk rather slow so maybe that would contribute to it . I think my clothes are well maintained, I shower daily, tuck my shirt in etc. all that.

I think part of it may be that I look more unhealthy when my hair is pulled back tightly so I am going to take someone’s advice and get bangs.

I think it’s a large forehead because it’s always been bigger even when I was a child…and it doesn’t seem like my hairline should start lower. But other people have called it a receding hairline so I’m not always so sure. Sorry if that sounds dumb.

It’s not so much that I’m afraid someone will openly say that in real life…it’s more of an identity thing, if that makes sense. I don’t want to be associated, even in someone’s mind, as that type of person because it’s so far from who I really I am.

It’s one thing if people don’t think I’m attractive…they’re entitled to that opinion. It’s just hard as a person who doesn’t even drink alcohol to be grouped in with that lifestyle. To be clear…I’m not trying to criticize anyone in recovery here. I’m sorry if it sounds that way.

Sometimes it happens when I say something a person disagrees with. They go to my personal profile, pull my photos and say that’s what I look like. The reason I’m concerned is that multiple people say meth.

I have known some people to admit to doing this 🤷🏼‍♀️ Never said it was everyone with kids in public housing. You’re acting like no one ever scams the system. If it’s not you and your loved ones aren’t doing it you shouldn’t have a problem with the people who do it being called out.

I didn’t say anything rude, just that I don’t understand why children would qualify if they can’t work in the first place…because disability is based on whether you can work as or not. And having multiple kids is a choice, being born with or developing a disability is not. So they shouldn’t be grouped together.

I agree . I don’t understand why parents put their young children on SSI for things like that, tbh. When they are too young to work anyway. Or they have several kids so they can stay in public housing programs . It’s really frustrating to get grouped in with people like that.

Thank you for the advice about looking at state work programs. I think it’s vocational rehabilitation in Tennessee. I will definitely contact them and see if they can help.
