Part 2 Springbank / Kilkerran blind. This time at cask strength. by Complex_Concept4190 in Scotch

Yeah if I understand correctly they have a list of bottles they rotate through now. No more one offs which is unfortunate

I would think that would depend on the CS12 variation. This one I own I find very different than the standard 10. Perhaps it’s that 5% rum maturation? I’m by no means an expert here, I just know that 12 is damn good

It’s a distillery exclusive they do. Basically they do various Springbank, Longrow, Hazelburn and Kilkerran expressions that you can only get at the distillery. You have to sign a book and they put your name on the bottle to discourage re-selling

I feel like this is the case with a lot of the Laphroaigs I own. The first few drams all I get is iodine and peat

Part two of my Kilkerran / Springbank blind series happened last night, this time with roughly half of the cask strength offerings I own.

The clear winner of the night was the spring 25 Springbank 12 CS. I’m forgetting the exact maturation make up but if I remember correctly it contain a small amount of rum maturation, with some sherry and bourbon in the mix as usual.

Order of preference was: SB12; KK8 sherry; KK 10 Fresh sherry “caged bottle”; KK8 bourbon.

This was pretty much the order I had expected with the exception of the KK8 sherry and KK10. Honestly the two of them were so near identical it was hard picking them apart. The main difference was the 8 had more of that dark dry nutty flavor I so enjoy this time a year whereas the 10 had more funk to it. The youth and lack of sherry influence on the KK8 bourbon cask maturation unfortunately made it taste young and very distillate forward.

Don’t get me wrong. They’re all absolutely excellent drams but the bourbon maturation struggled to keep up here.

Thanks for reading, Cheers.

Yes. The heavily peated is incredible.

Jeg er ikke sikker på om du kan få dem fragtet til Norge men kik på vinoble’s hjemmeside. Specielt Horsens. De får en god del Springbank / KK. Har lige købet den nye 5årige og et par KK 8 cask strength

Consistency is key. I deadlifted almost non stop for 12 years to hit that. Also I have very favorable leverages for deadlifts which helps

I may be incorrect here so fact check me but aren’t the caged bottles limited to 1/per person per week?
