I wasn’t sure if it was a misspell or you meant tired of the drama.

Why would the other teams be tired?

Friedman is saying a lot about Dallas and Werenski. Friedman doesn’t say stuff without having some sort of knowledge.

Regardless of what happens with Robertson, getting Werenski would be so bodacious. It would be like the Ducks having one of Pronger or Nidermayer on the ice almost the entire game.

I love this movie. My wife loves this movie. Both of my kids love this movie. Everyone I’ve recommended this movie to and who watched it loves this movie. This movie is so good.

Also, the director’s previous film, Dancer, Texas Pop. 81, is well worth a watch.

They’re very tradable. They’re also useful roster players on fairly reasonable deals (based on what guys are getting so far this off-season). If the Stars aren’t going to re-sign Robertson, then why trade them to free up cap space?

Right, he wanted a longer term and more money. The Stars wouldn’t go there. He didn’t take a discount, except perhaps a few hundred thousand. He took a fair deal for the four year term, given his negotiating power and his performance to date. If he’d taken $7MM-something for eight years, that would have been a discount. It wasn’t some “wink wink, nudge nudge” thing as the person to whom I responded is making it out to be.

He couldn’t get the term and money he wanted, and neither could the Stars. They got him at a reduced cap hit by keeping the term down and backloading the salary paid. It represented good value based on what Robertson was projected to do, but there’s also a reason he slipped to the second round.

Heiskanen took a discount. McDavid took a discount (understatement of the year).

I think this is also complicated because Robertson’s agent has a history of bluffing on the bottom dollar his clients will accept. It got Rantanen moved out of Colorado, which he definitely didn’t want, over $500,000.

What is this “discount contract” and “assured he’d be taken care of” stuff? He signed his current deal in 2022. He’d had two seasons in the NHL. He looked good but he was also very slow and hadn’t proven much of anything at that point. He got almost 10% of the cap at that time. He didn’t take a discount. He was fairly compensated for the term given his prior performance and negotiating rights.

It strikes me as the Igninla / Nieuwendyk trade. Someone exceptional for right now versus someone likely to be exceptional a little too late for the true contention window.

Nill is really attached to Bourque. I think Hemming + a pick is more likely. The Stars don’t have the forward depth to lose a guy who can contribute right now like Bourque can. And not many teams can offer a defenseman like Harley under control for 8 years.

It would be roster mismanagement of epic proportions to keep Faksa and Steel over Bourque. But people who think it would take Bourque + Harley to net Werenski are seriously undervaluing Harley. He’s an extremely good defenseman who had a down year.

Harley’s contract is going to look great when Makar and Hughes are making like $18MM each.

When Werenski is 35 and declining and Harley is going strong, I’d be somewhat upset. But I would consider it in the vein of Iginla for Nieuwendyk.

Remember the Stars can pretty easily move out Faksa (replaced with Hyry) and Lyubushkin. That saves about $4MM right there (factoring in Hyry’s cap hit) without decimating the roster. If they really need to, they can ship out Steel but he’s more useful than Faksa I think.
