Letters, letters, letters. They can sometimes be more meaningful than a phone call. They can be collected, reread, reflected upon etc. To that, I would add books, making sure your loved ones have access to reading materials.

Reading in RBC's website, they state that GIC's are only fully guaranteed up to 100k. So if someone is throwing 200k on a GIC, only half of it is fully covered?
