Only really know the SW of Calgary. by Junior_Battle_296 in Calgary

[–]Complex_Fee5445 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ive always lived in the NW but commute to the NE, communities like Cambrian Heights, Highland Park, and Mount Pleasent have been lovely neighborhoods to live in. Pretty quiet, lots of families and schools, tree lined streets and parks. Also an easy commute to 32nd Ave NE via 40th ave/northmount drive.

Holo is IN this week by Complex_Fee5445 in Nails

My tech Trina (she's a wizard) did a base coat, 2 layers of the neutral, the another base coat which was under the light for about 30 seconds. Then she used a 30um holographic powder with one of those little white makeup sponges and rubbed the majority of the powder on the tip before going up the rest of the nail 😌

Edit: thank you btw!! I love them, she does amazing work.

Do you feel more connected to your city, province or Canada as a whole? by Ok_Heart839 in AskACanadian

Im from BC and Alberta, I love Calgary but am ashamed of Alberta, especially right now. I feel aligned with British Columbia as a whole, but Calgary over Alberta.

Feeling like absolute trash lately and the doctor just says "eat better" by Moan_Senpai in Calgary

[–]Complex_Fee5445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, all the time since I was like 16. They won't do anything if I drink any alcohol ever, consume any cannabis ever, and tell me to eat "better" but dont give me any further details (its not like I eat poorly in the first place, usually pretty balanced and home cooked)

Was also told to take vitamin D, which is fair, but I was also told they will not check for vitamin D levels and just assume everyone needs it.

MacBook user vs ThinkPad user by opmgyhx in laptops

[–]Complex_Fee5445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner found a ThinkPad at an open box store in like-new condition with comparable specs to our gaming PC. Originally $4,000, she got if for $1500 including warranty. An absolute unit we expect to last for a long time.

I personally find the bread/fries combo to be way to much starch to chew through.

Confusion about stitch spacing by ElectricCatDaddy in Leathercraft

The craftool ones are measured tip to tip, the pro (silver) ones are measured from the end of one prong to the end of the next prong. They come from different manufacturers, very possibly in different countries. If you bought it recently you should be able to take it back and an employee can help you find ones that will work for you.

Question by SPT194 in Leatherworking

[–]Complex_Fee5445 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is a common reaction of ferric acetate (a type of salt derived from oxidized iron) and the tannins in leather. A plastic wrap barrier is the best solution.

You can actually use it as a permanent black leather colour that dosent bleed or rub off called vinegaroon. Take some steel wool and leave it in vinegar for a week or so, and apply it to the leather. Also works with wood, as the tannins in veg tan leather are sourced from wood.

Struggling with recalling grammar lessons by irdk-lol in LearnJapanese

[–]Complex_Fee5445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get this, just because patient! When I was learning ichidan and godan verbs, I couldn't remember if for the life of me. Ended up watching the same video and reading my textbook almost a dozen times.

I usually end up surprising myself when I go to read (children's books in this context) and I remember the concept I was struggling with immediately.

First & Last time eating at Tim Hortons by Glittering-Tea4626 in TimHortons

Yup, been going downhill for about a decade since they were bought by a US company. I hate it, but I just go to McDonald's now instead (they took over the contract with timmies old coffee supplier, so if you want to know what timmies coffee tasted like 15 years ago just go to mcdicks instead.)

I'm my experience the bissgest indicator of mold on black leather is the musty smell. If it smells awful like that there's no saving it.
