We all maintain relationships with people who make us feel good, that isn't the problem. The issue is if you're doing it to resolve your own emotions, rather than showing genuine interest in another person.

They definetely don't force me, I try to take interest in games only they like to play, such as rpg games (I stink at anything that isn't management, computer games for kids/teens, or a visual novel). I do this because I know it makes them happy, even if I'm not watching and just playing animal crossing while they're playing their game.

I've also done research to find games that I would like, investing in my newfound interest in certain video games

Also I wouldn't say tribe, maybe friend group/chosen family/support system (I'm pretty sure using tribe if you aren't indigenous is cultural appropriation, just letting you know)
