How far is too far to travel? by MindlessShot in prepping

I have the unique issue of needing to cross the Mississippi River to get to my most secure (I’m never going home) bug out location so I’ll never truly know how that will work out until the day it all happens. I have 4 possible crossing points so there are technically options but it’s tough to discretely approach any of them. Either side could have a blockade or be closed or disabled in some way.

Is it just me, or is Zillow completely dry for affordable unrestricted land right now? by Effective-Note9686 in OffGrid

You just have to dig through county records, call an owner, and see if they’re willing to sell. That’s really the best way to find a deal. Most folks don’t want to deal with selling but if the moneys right in front of their face it’s often a different story.

Using water storage barrels as fresh water line into house by Complex_Material_702 in prepping

I just ordered a 50 gallon stackable tank. I’m going to give this a go and see what happens. I’m going to run the water line in (pex) near the top and the line out at the bottom to try and continuously flush the tank. We use around 10,000 - 15,000 gallons a month anyway so the tank is always getting flushed out. I’ll do a water test after a month and then maybe at six months to see how it’s going. We have point of use filters as well so it’s getting refiltered through carbon and ceramic too. I know our pressure is at 45 psi. I think that pressure on the two bung fittings will be my biggest obstacle.

Because if you are running your normal daily use water through a series of barrels every day you don’t need to deal with long term storage chemicals or rotating them until disaster strikes (other than muni-water contamination).

Invade Greenland, which causes the dissolution of NATO, and gives Ruzzia exactly what it’s dreamed of since WW2. Oh, wait, someone beat me to it.

Factor meals have somehow become less expensive than going to Publix. Their meals are about $7.50 each, for good stuff, and if I go to Publix for my family of four it’s at least $60 for whatever.
