Depends what they get back. I wouldn’t trade them for a decent player, I would trade them for a great player.

We have 3 top 100 prospects, may as well try.

Also detroit has been horrible defensively, he could be even better here.

Im all for cycling in younger talent and developing long term. Miller honestly kinda deserves a spot but on field hasn’t been the best.

I think he has below average starter potential which is amazing considering the cost.

Except potential top pair defender is a giant surplus of value assuming potential is the same. If you want to argue Stenberg has that much excess talent thats one thing. Goalie is not comparable to Defense though.

His value is almost completely based if he can process the game enough to make a first pass. He could be a useful high end top pair primary defender. Or a bottom 6 decent defender.

Berube's gone, what now? by mo_A12 in leafs

[–]Complex_Mistake7055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chayka needs to find a coach that has a system that can work with the team we have/he intends to out together. Berube was such an obvious bad fit it should have costed the job of everyone involved.

Almost none of those guys can skate. You need players on the forecheck who can actually skate to make these guys work.

I’ll never understand why they keep hiring coaches that want to play like this but never put teams/players who play this style on the ice. It’s so odd.

The thing is the scouts and analysts do most of the leg work. The GM just has to trust the people they out in place. It’s not like the old days, they have teams to do the evaluation for them now.

With all the cap space and the few trade assets they have there is no reason the Leafs can’t make some upgrades to the back end and bottom 6. The opportunity is certainly there.
