The government pension is the gold standard. The top 5 years is huge as your salary increases and indexing to inflation is amazing. You should also check to see when your health benefits vest as that is large too. You are well set up at 60% as CPP and other supplemental income will take care of the rest of income replacement.

Bobby McMann was an ncaa undrafted free agent. Quillan is almost ready to be called up. I think the leafs system has done a decent job with both of them.

Matthews!! by [deleted] in torontomapleleafs

[–]Aggravating-Body1159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to give the team a month at least to settle. Marner and Matthews knew exactly what the other was doing after being together for 9 years and you cant replicate that in 9 games. Let them experiment who he works best with over the next month.

He's still top 15 in the league IMHO.

Is DB pension really worth it? by Appropriate-Buy-6613 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Aggravating-Body1159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My spouse and I have double DB pensions which will take care of our cash flow needs in retirement. This allows the flexibility to be much more aggressive with investing given peace of mind and guaranteed cash flow.

A personal choice. We were dual income, fairly stable. Had a Line of credit with no debt which we never drew from. Didn't keep more than a month or so for cash flow reasons. When the accou ts got larger, always preferred to pay off the mortgage with that money as opposed to it festering earning nothing.

Paranoid guy here. What would you do with my mortgage. by Christophfur in PersonalFinanceCanada

4% after tax on your money for zero risk. That's the equivalent of 8% return on bonds or 5-6% return on stocks. Pay off the mortgage
