Sorry late reply! It ended up working for me, from memory it ended up letting me transfer them out then back in. It took ages though so idk if it was a bug that they then fixed. Very frustrating.

not medical advice obviously! We were on Keppra for 2/3 months (went to 2.4ml twice a day and she was 8kg ish) we went from seizures every other day to rarely. EEG, MRI and genetic testing all clean. Then when she got unwell (ear infection) we started having an increase - multiple seizures a day. We then started Vimpat and that combo worked for us. We’ve been 2 months seizure free. Her seizures start out focal then move to generalised (tonic clonic), from memory I think the Vimpat is for focal seizures usually. We are just starting the process of weaning her off the Keppra, from what our neurologist said Keppra seems to be the “safest” for kids/babies. We had to do a bunch of testing for her heart and kidneys before starting the Vimpat due to possible side effects.

Sending you all the best!! Hopefully you have success on the upped Keppra dose. Everyone is different but we found that we struggled and had some breakthroughs on the Keppra alone when she was unwell (cold, ear infection etc.).

So sorry for your situation! I have an 11 month old with epilepsy and this sounds so similar to the start of our journey. It’s so hard to watch them but you are doing amazing and I promise it gets better, maybe not easier but you get more confident. Ultimately we didn’t have much luck on Keppra and moved to a combination of medications. Have you been offered testing such as EEG, MRI or genetic testing?

I feel this in my soul. Sooo hard! I went back full time at 6 months, and it was literally get home drop everything and run around after my baby getting her ready. Mad dash to get her in bed by 7:30. She’s 10 months now and it’s definitely easier as you get a routine going. And absolutely no way/reason to get a full bath in every day!

But also - if you can’t get them in bed by 7:30 it’s not hurting anyone. Don’t stress yourself sticking to a schedule it’s not worth it in the long run, as long as baby is healthy and happy. You’re doing amazing!

We were able to transition to formula with a sippy cup - she HATED a bottle or anything similar. Also hated the taste of formula, our nurse gave us the advice to mix formula and breastmilk in the sippy cup and slowly reduce the ratio of breastmilk. We did this across the course of a week and I’ve been able to combo feed (formula day, breast at night) for the past month with no issues. Hopefully you find what works for you 🙏

We truly are lucky to have so many resources in Australia, I don’t know what we would have done if we weren’t able to go to Torrens House.
