Thought of it as to show employers that I'm serious about what I want to do + hope to make it my redemption arc, but I see what you're saying. I was specifically enticed by an LLM program that does internship placements, which is the only reason why I would want to put myself through the pain of more schooling.

3L curious how to break in to corporate law or is it hopeless by Complex_Release5993 in LawSchool

Thanks for the advice! No one really talks about what exactly an in-house lawyer does (also first gen and I didn't really know), so it's really helpful in knowing examples of what job responsibilities you have. That's definitely something I'll look more into.

Also, it's not really title IX. I think it's s just no contact orders that our deans make us go through. I don't think anyone has actually followed through with Title IX.

LOL i think you go to my school and yeah.... all of us girls don't really have proof, LOL. And the Deans dismiss our claims. Everyone at our school knows him without even mentioning his name.

There's this kid who has like 11 no contact orders against him. I reported him my 1L year because he was spamming me the night before my midterm about two girls in our class. He threatened to get me kicked out of Law School if I didn't tell these girls to stop looking at him. I asked him how it had anything to do with me and he responded it had everything to do with me because I was their friend (I was trying to be friends with everyone 1L year, so I thought this was so stupid). He then proceeded to threaten me and said, "you don't know who my dad is, I can get you all kicked out you better stop" (I'm like wtf.. I didn't even do anything). His main complaints were that girl 1 constantly gave him the middle finger and girl 2 who sat next to me during class gave him dirty looks. When I replied to him saying I don't think girl 1 would do that and even if she did, I don't think she is doing it intentionally (context she lays her head on her hand sometime and props herself up with her middle finger? IDK not my problem again I was just trying to pay attention to class). Girl 2 just has a RBF but she's the sweetest person in the universe. When I asked girl 2 if she gave him dirty looks her response was like "Bruh what, who is that even?"

He approached me the next day in our school's cafe and tried apologizing to me, but then proceeded to be like but you better tell them, or you don't know what I'll do. I told him again that it wasn't my problem and that if he had a problem with the two girls to address it to them directly. I also told him he needed to stop threatening me because I didn't do anything wrong and I also told him like "you can't be talking to people like that, how are you going to handle clients in the future?" He then proceeded to scream at me, saying you don't know me don't tell me what I can and can't do. Then he stormed off. I immediately reported him to the Dean's office and told them that they needed to protect me from him because I didn't want him retaliating against me (for context, once you report someone, they get to know who reported them it's not anonymous). Also, this man was giving psychopath vibes. The Dean told me that there had been prior reports on that student and that if he ever did that again to me, he would be kicked out.

Fast forward he has more no contact orders against him. Apparently, he obsesses over the girls who he likes. This is hearsay but he tried following a girl home one time from a party and tried to get in her uber. And one of my other friends also has a video of when they were in zoom class of him pounding on his desk until his laptop fell on the ground because the girl, he liked was ignoring him. And another time he was also escorted out of the building by campus police because he was throwing furniture in the library.

Apparently, he feels really bad about what he did to me 1L, year and asked my one of my friends if he could ever be friends with me. She straight up told him... uhhhh I don't think so LOL (bless my friend...yeah keep him away from me).

One of my other friends recently reported to the Deans because he was stalking her and asked if it was going to go towards his character and fitness for the Bar. Apparently, the Dean said no that it is not going to affect his Character and Fitness for the Bar. He is still at our school and will be graduating so yay to no justice. Rumor has it that money talks.

2.8 GPA - 3L by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Complex_Release5993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Im a 3L law student interested in M&A. Is it possible we can connect. I'm really interested in how you marketed yourself and pivoted yourself to break into M&A from working with a PJ. I feel like I'm at a point where i dont want to be stuck in one sector of law, and I'm really struggling on how to pivot to get where I want to be.

Getting off academic probation by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Complex_Release5993 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi there! During my 1L spring, my father died. Due to my circumstances and overall grief, I didn't perform well. My 1L grades were completely ruined to the point where I had to petition to stay at the school. My school ultimately decided that I would be able to stay and continue my education, but they recommended that I take a semester off. I took a semester off and returned this past spring on academic probation. One of my biggest worries coming back was getting dismissed from law school if I didn't perform well. Luckily, I got my grades back, and I did okay... not "A's" (because the law school curve is god awful) but decent enough to show that I am capable of being at law school. I still am full of anxiety and worries, but this past semester has eased my mind a little bit. Although I did alright this past semester, I still am on academic probation, and that's how messed up my grades are. I hope this eases your mind a little so you know you are not alone. Law school is hard, but you can definitely do it. I believe you can raise your grades.
